Lurker coming out to play... :)

Hi Ladies,

I figured it was time to come out of lurking and finally start posting on the Hawaii board. I got engaged on March 17, 2012, which happen to be exactly 12 years to the day that me and my FI met on a blind date. We went our seperate ways for about 8 years and reconnected in 2010! I have always dreamt of having a beach wedding so we are getting married on May 2, 2013 on Waimanalo Beach on Oahu, and we are using Above Heaven's Gate for our wedding company, and I am beyond excited. We are in the beginning stages of planning and trying to figure out if we want to stay at a hotel or a vacation rental.  I also just recently ordered my dress, I looked at wedding dresses and they were all too heavy, frilly or just not for me so I ended up going with a bridesmaids dress that comes in white and I absolutely love it!

I can't wait to start talking to you ladies, maybe it will help with not driving my FI absolutely bonkers with all the wedding talk. Laughing

  • Congratulations!!!  We're using Above Heaven's Gate as well....they're so great with all the crazy questions that I have LOL....We're going to get married at Pukalani Falls but also having pictures taken on the beach Cool

We lucked out with accommodations...we're staying at my in-laws' time share (Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk) for 5 days then hopping over to Kauai to another time share for our honeymoon.

Can't wait to hear all your plans!!!  Welcome and aloha!!

  • Congrats! Waimanalo beach is beautiful. Depending on where on the island you are staying a hotel may be more expensive than a vacation rental. Lots of hotels here add on a resort fee and also charge for parking (if you are in Waikiki especially). Once you decide what you want to do check on VRBO... They have houses, condos, etc, even rooms in what you would think of as a "hotel" (the Ilikai in Waikiki for example)

Good luck and let us know if we can help in any way! :)
  • Welcome and Congratulations! We will be on Maui, "27"days, so also can't help too much but welcome to the HI board.
  • Aloha! I just got married 3 weeks ago at Waimanalo Beach with Captain Howie... it was beyond amazing! As soon as we get our photos, I'll post a vendor review!
