Where To Go For A Reception Dinner In Maui?!

We are planning our wedding for this year in December and was wondering if anyone had an idea of what restaurant would be great for a reception dinner?

     Thanks! :)

Which area of the island, approximately how many people, and what's your budget?  Some possibilities, but can be somewhat pricey:

Hali'imaile General Store - nowhere near the water, but possibly the best food on the island
Mama's Fish House - killer view up on the North side
Mala Wailea - delicious but pricey in the Marriott Wailea
Five Plams - don't know anything about them for dinner, but they are great for breakfast and have a nice open location near the beach
    Gannon's

  • Merriman's on the West Side also!

We plan on staying in Kihei and only immediate family are coming down for the wedding (9 people). Would a Luau be another good idea?

Also 5 Palms has great food for dinner! I was actually thinking about going there the night before the wedding!
  • There's a pretty good Luau at the Marriott / Grand Wailea, but I think it was like $75/pp (group discounts can apply).  For that price, I would personally prefer to use the luau as the rehearsal dinner or other welcome event, and a slightly more upscale food / sitdown experience for the reception.  Butttttt I am also a huge foodie and food snob.  :D

  • Shmoolie - for 2 days now it's shown that you replied again but I can never see your post.  If you were looking for an answer, mind reposting?
