Photgraphers: Matthews & J.W...

So the big day is almost one year away & already photographers are booking up! Does anyone have experience/feedback for Matthews Photography or J.W.? I just talked to Matthews today & I get the feeling he's a little un-artistic for me. I don't want anything crazy, but he said he's very 'old-school'. Both of these have options to add a photo booth at a great price, which is why I've narrowed it down a little, but if you have any other feedback for photographer/booth, that would be very helpful too!

Reposting my Vendor Rave for JW:So, I signed up to use JW Photography on May 15, 2010. We recently moved up our date to October 30, 2009. These guys were amazing. I called, and they told me they were already booked for a wedding. But, they knew how much I wanted to work with them (plus they have a photobooth AND a dj) so they found a way to make it all work out so that they have a way to cover the other wedding and mine. I am so so lucky to have such a wonderful vendor. I highly recommend them, as they will go above and beyond to make you happy (not to mention they have beautiful photos and are priced more reasonably then most others.) Also, since I moved my date - they have May 15, 2010 currently available - a highly sought after Saturday in the spring, so send them an email or give them a call, and let them know Erin sent you! We used Matthews for our wedding and can't say enough good things about him and his wife. I didn't feel his work to be "un-artistic", in fact we are thrilled with our photos! He had a lot of great ideas for what we feel to be modern and "up to date" posed pictures and a lot of fun stuff too. HTH! Good luck!

I agree with Kim. We used Matt Smith as well and are thrilled with the photos we got! (wedding and e-pics in both my bios if you want to see more examples) Matt is very focused on customer satisfaction, so if you have specific shots in mind, add them to your photo list and he'll cover them. Plus his flush mount albums are gorgeous!

Great feedback, thanks ladies! Did Matthews do anything online for you? I know a lot of photographers do an online album for guests to view/purchase, but I didn't see that in his package options.

He didn't at that time, but he's recently started a facebook fan page that he's been posting some photos on. But honestly, you can share photos online with friends and family yourself without having to pay someone for it. Matt provides all your photos in digital format with copyrights, so you can upload them to facebook, flikr, photobucket, where ever you like, and share the link with your friends and family for them to view. I definitely wouldn't pay extra for a photog to host those for you, especially since they're usually just trying to find a way to sell more prints to your friends and family. IMO, it's a rip and I'd rather share the digital image with them so they can print it where ever they would like (and usually for a more reasonable price) or print it out myself for them.

We're using JW for our July 2010 wedding and have nothing but wonderful things to say about James and Heidi. We live out of state and they happened to be travelling to our area and they worked with us to squeeze in an engagement session. They are truly great people. So comfortable to be around which I think is a very important factor in choosing a wedding photographer. We're also using their DJ services which we're excited about.

Yay! I am going to meet Heidi & James in the next week or so, and we're definitely doing the BOOTH also - it will be our favor, so I justify the expense that way :) Now for the fun part: dress shopping!!!
