Cake samples! (PIP)

We got our cake sample cupcakes in this week!  It was really exciting to have something so tangible and tasty to try out.  They're HUGE, so we tried 2 each night.

We both loved the carrot and cream cheese.  Unfortunately, FI hated the lilikoi filling in the chocolate cake that we tried that night.  I mean, HATED it.  I wasn't a fan either, so that's out for sure.  The chocolate cake w/ chocolate custard was pretty good.  The vanilla cake with mango filling wasn't a favorite - maybe we're just not that adventurous, but we didn't love the tropical fillings.  The raspberry filling in the vanilla cake was awesome, and be both adored the vanilla cake.  Lastly, the lemon cake with chantilly filling was a total winner - really light and refreshing.

I went into this thinking I wanted chocolate cake and lilikoi filling, but we didn't like the lilikoi filling, and we both liked the lemon and carrot cakes the best.  So, I guess the testing process worked.  :)

Her cakes are so yummy! She made us those super cute cupcakes too, we had to eat them all in the same night because we couldn't take them back on the flight home...I ate so much I was sick, haha! I didn't think to try the lemon and chantilly, sounds amazing!

I really wanted to like the lilikoi just because it's so Hawaii, but FI really didn't like how tart it was, and I liked other fillings better.  But I'd never heard of chantilly, and we both just loved it, so here's to sampling.  :)

    Oh the fillings sound delicious!

When I spoke to the person making our cake, he said he would not recommend chocolate for Hawaii due to the weather - don't know whether he was simply trying to take us away from it.  :).  But maybe it was a good thing you didn't go for chocolate :)

We ended up going for Pina Colada - very tropical.
