Flights!!

I'm leaving New Orleans, LA. And I'm thinking of staying at the Maui Sunseeker in Kihei. Can anyone tell me where I'm flying into? Also, is it cheaper to find flights myself or through a travel agent?

Maui Sunseeker is a great choice....I've heard great reviews about it.  You'd be flying into Kahului Aiport (code: OGG) on Maui.  I'd recommend renting a car (easier to get around).  It's about a 25 minute drive between the airport and Kihei.

I travel quite frequently for work and I usually find it cheaper to book flights on-line (i.e. Expedia).  It offers the convenience of choosing my own flight times, routes, etc.  I haven't tried a travel agent in ages, but others could help you there.  BTW, have you decided on a wedding venue yet?  HTH!  :)

We used yapta and kayak to keep track of flight prices, but ultimately booked our tickets ourselves. I haven't found it any cheaper to book through a travel agent...

I like bing travel to compare flights on various airlines & then usually book with expedia or orbitz. Also hawaiian & alaska air offer wedding Group discounts.

Kayak and Expedia are good places to get a feel for overall prices across airlines.  However, many airlines either aren't listed, or offer cheaper prices through their own websites.  So, if you find something you like on Kayak / Expedia / Priceline, go to the airline's website directly to book.

As sparkle mentioned, Alaska & Hawaiian offer wedding group discounts -- both simply provide you a "promotion code" that you enter while searching for flights on their website.  From MSY, you'll likely have a stop before you get to OGG.

We booked through Expedia. It was the cheapest option for us, but now that we're running into issues with United I'm regretting it simply because we can't deal directly with United.
