Lanikuhonua wedding planners..

We're thinking of a Lanikuhonua wedding next spring, just wondering if anyone who's been there could recommend a wedding planner that helped make the experience easier.  Alternately, has anyone done it without a coordinator, & just made all the arrangements themselves?  On a slightly different note, what price range could we expect the total to come to (40-50 guests) for a pretty standard wedding package -- looks like rental of the property alone is around 3,000-4,000 (!)?

I'm getting married at Lanikuhonua next July - and I'll pretty much be doing it all w/o the help of a coordinator. However, Lanikuhonua does require you to have a Day of Coordinator - or at least a main contact person. For this we'll be using a friend who is hoping to start her own planning business.

If you are able to ask for kama'aina rates or military you can check with them. I think its about $2,800 for up to 150 guests w/o a discount.

Price range all depends on what you want... I know some girls have been able to get catering down to $15/head - and as high as $30-$35/head.

    Plus tents, video, photog, etc...

Our WC had a package created specifically for Lanikuhonua and other off-site locations.  Check out Hawaii Weddings and Events www.hawaiiweddingsandevents.com

We had full service, but I know her basic package included taking care of the rentals and floor plan, something that we had no clue about.

I second Dianna, we just got married there 2 months ago & she made it flawless. We even had a wedding crasher that she politely escorted away, LOL. But all in all she's SO worth the money to NOT stress. She's at that location practically every weekend from what I hear. But personally, I loved having her.
We had 46 people total including us. & as others mentioned you can do well w/ catering...just be aware if they're full service or not (plate the food & serve, clear tables, run a buffet line, etc...) some companies just drop off the food to the site & pick the chaffers up later.
The other nice thing is Dianna has great contacts & can help you stay in your budget. Some vendors give you discounts b/c you're working w/ her.

thanks so much for the suggestions, I'll try to contact some of those recommendations.  Anyone else with advice/tips, for the Lanikuhonua area? much appreciated.
    Mahalo.
  • I am also interested in your experiences with this location.  Can you do a ceremony there and then the reception at the JW Marriott next door?  Looking for the best options for a beachfront ceremony & reception for about 40 people next spring.  Thanks!
