Costco flowers??

Hi everyone! After talking to a couple of Oahu florists I have decided to just go it alone and DIY all the flowers for my wedding and reception! I want really simple flowers (my BM bouquets are going to be just buches of baby's breath). I was looking into Costco and their prices seem awesome for bulk buying flowers! I just wandered if people have had much experience with them. Did it turn out ok? Everything come on time? Flowers fresh? Etc etc. Im really excited to do the flowers myself with my mum and girlfriends but it's scary at the same time!! If you can suggest other options besides Costco I'm open to ideas! Thanks!! Happy new year!

Re: Costco flowers??

  • Someone else gave me advice to get my flowers there as well. Do they have a website? I only need flowers for myself so I thought it would be cheaper to go this route, but I'm looking for certain flowers. I'd love to have orchids and plumerias in my bouquet. I also contacted the florist at the Hale Koa on Waikiki and was told that they will make anything I wanted for my price range. If you wanted their number I'd be happy to share it with you.

  • Costco's flowers are great. Many past Hawaii brides have used them and have all been happy with them. I'm using the Costco on Maui for our flowers and DIT it, as well. I've been in contact with their florist and she was able to do everything we wanted. Find out who does the flowers for the Oahu Costco and talk straight to them for what you want. We are also getting all of our leis through Costco since they have such great prices.
  • OK great!
    Really good to know, thanks!
Jtoly, so far I have just googled Costco Oahu and browsed the Grocery/Floral section.

Kimmykupcakes, I was thinking of just ordering the bulk flower options and making the bouquets, centrepieces etc myself.  I didn't realise they have a specific florist!

  • Yeah they do. You can have things made for you or get bulk flowers or both. We are getting bulk flowers and leis. It's a really cheap option but still great flowers. You will be happy if you get them from there. I'm going to Maui for a planning trip in 2 weeks. I can get pictures of the flowers at costco to post here if you'd like.
  • Oh awesome!! Ok I will have to track down their actual florist then I think!

That would be amazing to see some pics! Mine will be the Oahu Costco, but I'm sure they would probably have the same stuff.

    You're a gem! I'm so jealous you're going there!!

I DIY-ed everything but my bouquet with flowers from Costco.  We handmade orchid bouquets (after watching a youtube video and testing it out at home with silk flowers), and made our own table decor.  We pre-ordered the flowers from the vendor who worked through Costco, so we got exactly what we wanted for Costco prices.  Pics and info in are in my bio.

I couldn't have been happier with how this decision turned out.  It freed up money for other things we cared about, and we were really happy with our floral arrangements.
  • Hey kimmykupcakes, would you mind passing along the contact info? I am also DIYing my flowers, so I would love to talk to her about ordering.

  • Hey Kimmykupcakes...what sort of price did you get for leis?  We have 70 guests and would love to offer everyone one, but the prices vary so much.

We were also considering doing cupcakes from Costco, then spruce them up ourselves.  Anyone know if they look good?  $1.25 each versus $4 is a big deal when dealing with an order over 70.

And yes, we are also thinking of doing our liquor and flowers from there as well haha.  Just trying to go through Maui's Costco flower contact.

  • Hi Kimmykupcakes,
I am also getting married in Maui, and ironically am from Portland too. Small world! :) I was looking into doing flowers from Costco and have been searching for pictures. If it wouldn't been too much trouble I would greatly appreciate pictures of the flowers from your trip. Hope all goes well on your planning trip! How exciting!
  • Hey to all you ladies!!  Im am planning to go the same route for table flowers, lei's, alcohol, and maybe some desserts as well.  I was advised by many to NOT DYI my own bouqet or MOH bouqet since with the heat and such, was informed they would likely wilt and flop after about 1 hour.  i too am having about 65 guests and was not sure about lei's for all or just ladies..or just family.  I was at Costco Maui a few months ago and had a look at the lei's and they were awesome (2 in a package)  and I think it was around $4.  Sadly, I wasn't that far in my planning so I didn't investigate further while there!!  I too would like to see pics as in store, there was not a huge selection to look at.  and price points!!
  • check www.mauioriginals.  They have prices and pictures of all leis you can get through costco.  We are doing our bridesmaid bouquets ourselves (5 pack of white orchids), and mine will be done professionally...  probably around $130ish.

  • So nice to see so many brides DIY'ing it!
I would love to hear from Oahu brides if your'e out there!!

I am definitely confused! Are you supposed to go through costco directly or try and find out who supplies Costco and go though them?? I have seen somewhere that it's Watanbe in Oahu that supplies them but I haven't heard back from them.. Confusion!
