Hi Ladies!!!
Well it’s been pretty long since the last time I was actively involved on the board but I have been lurking a bit lately! Let’s just say things have been very busy and wedding planning has taken up much of my spare time. Here is an update/re-cap/introduction for all those still around and those who are new.
My fiancé and I are getting married 9-26-12 at the Olowalu Plantation House. We took a scouting trip last September and fell in love with that venue. It is breathtaking! Most of the planning is complete minus some small DIY projects. Invitations were mailed on Monday and that felt so good to take off the to-do list!!! (I’ll add pics in a separate post). All the travel arrangements have been made along with the Honeymoon plans. Luau is booked for our “rehearsal” dinner and we are looking into where to host a welcome party.
Vendors
Coordinator: Kara Bryne from Your Aloha Wedding Co. – What a great person to work with! I like to be very hands on but I didn’t want to be stressed and hands-on on the day of the wedding. Kara is perfect for me. She created a custom day-of coordination plan to work with our budget and has secured and recommended many great vendors. She has taken care of the lighting, video, layout, timeline, and more.
Photographer: Kim – Aihara from Aihara Visuals. I LOVE KIM!!! Our engagement photos turned out amazing, you get all the photos on CD, she retouches a bunch and her rates could not be beat. She was the first person I booked and that was over a year ago. We will have her for the wedding day and the TTD.
Catering: Food for The Soul -Their food was amazing and Tina is a blessing to work with. Everything is included in the pricing which makes things so easy. She is quick to respond and that means a lot when you are planning from so far away. I cannot say enough good things about her and her team.
Hair / Make-up: I originally booked Jessica Waite and Dan Sanchez and even did my hair trials with them both. As time went on I realized that I could get the same quality of service for much less. I recently cancelled their services and booked Karine Cummings for everything. She was a doll to speak with and very prompt in responding to my questions. Needless to say her work looks great and between me and the bridal party, we will be saving nearly $500 for making the switch!!!
Minister: Pia Aluli – What a sweet man! We met him by chance when we took our scouting trip and he took the time to have an impromptu meeting. I cannot imagine using anyone else!
Cake: Maui Sweet Treats – Thanks to Diane I found a great cake baker who is reasonably priced and able to mix things up a bit with the option of dessert bars, cupcake/cake combos and more. She is even going to do a tasting with us when we land on Maui for the wedding since we booked her after our scouting trip. THANKS DIANE!!!
DJ: DJ Dan is another Maui sweetheart who loves his job! Tanq gave me the recommendation and once we met him we knew he would work perfectly with our crowd.
Flowers: DIY J
Surprise vendor: The FI and I wanted to do something really cool for each other and our future so we have hired a local painter to paint our wedding day at Olowalu. The guests are going to love it and we will forever have that piece of art which we can pass down to our kids one day. If you want details and contact information PM me.
