Places to Stay in Maui

I just recently got engaged and my FI and I are planning a wedding in Maui in July 2012. We already know that we want to have our ceremony at the Grand Wailea but we will like to stay somewhere cheaper- preferably a condo.  Does anyone know a great place to stay near Wailea beach?

Go on VRBO.com  You can pick a specific place and search where you want.  It's great.  I found a house for everyone to stay at while we were there for my wedding!

The Grand Champions are pretty close and I've heard them as low as $130 per night depending on season.  VRBO is also good -- Wailea / Kihei offers a wide range of condos from the affordable to the unbelievable.

We stayed at the Aston Papakea and it was amazing. Really nice condos all with great views

I'd start with reviews of condo complexes on the Maui Revealed site:

Then go to tripadvisor (for reviews) and vrbo to check out individual units to see if you can get a better price than by going through companies.

FWIW, we had a bad experience with vrbo on our first trip to Hawaii (like... 6-7 years ago before tripadvisor was really popular) and since then we've always made sure to rent through a company that ensures there's a supervisor on site who can troubleshoot if things go wrong.
