Sound off: what's the haps?

I know Brea and others are off getting married but it's been a little quiet around here! What's new and what's good? I'm in Berlin at the moment and headed to London for the weekend. I'm looking forward to being a tourist for the weekend but also homesick!

What are you gals up to?

Hey Tanq! I feel like I haven't been around in ages... it's probably time that I really weaned myself off of wedding porn! LOL!

I'm swamped with school right now. Both in teaching and leading and on top of that, doing my specialist classes twice a week (12.5 hours of class a week for 10 weeks) - I feel like I haven't had a chance to breathe.

But, I'm already planning our next trip! We're going back to England next July (the beginning of the month, so we can avoid the Olympics insanity). I'm thinking London for a week (LOVE that city) and then we'll go north to see MH family in Liverpool and hit up the Lake District and the Isle of Man (where my Mum was born). I'm totally pumped for that.

Ooh! And we also got a new apartment last week! We're still renters, but it's gorgeous (wood burning fireplace! giant solarium! bay windows! next door to our current apartment making our move the smallest ever at 5 feet!) and in the area we love, and continues to let us put a decent amount of money aside each month for a down payment for when we move cities in 3 years time. So, that's exciting, but another stress to deal with.

Alyson - that new apartment sounds gorgeous!  And only moving a few feet is *so nice*.  My personal pet peeve is boxing and moving heavily loaded boxes, and then unpacking :D  It's great that you guys are still able to save up for your next step but have luxuries like a fire place!   Work for you also sounds a bit nutty but that upcoming trip sounds divine.

DH and I are trying to plan a small vacation for our 1 year anniversary and I keep wavering between a nice vacation and just trying to do something budget friendly.  2011 has been a pricey year in the household, so I think budget will likely win out, but seriously, how can you look at this and NOT drool?

Hey! Yes, its been pretty quiet around here! I've been busy with work! I actually just took/accepted a promotion to manager with my company - so I've been doing double work - my old job AND new job while we waiting to fill my position! Its scary and exciting all at the same time!

But I'm on a business trip right now in Seattle, so its been a nice break, but also slightly awkward since all of these other managers have been with the company for 20+ years and have all worked together for a loooong time!

But its always nice to put a face to the name. :) and 1.5 more days of meetings and its all over and FI will be joining me for the weekend to hang out with friends!

My MOH was in town from far away, and my dress came in last week!!  So we and my Mom went out for the initial yes it's the right dress and pay it off fitting.  They got it right!!  And it's the first time that I've been in the dress that it feels totally right, and I love it!!  Finally!!  I'll try to post a photo, but FI is right beside me.  We also went for dinner and did a little planning of the shower/stagette that she's planning.  It's nice to have her involved in something wedding related since she's out of town.  Good night over all

    It has been quiet lately.
Wedding stress is getting to this household! I can come home from work one day and my daughter isn't in wedding mode to discuss any ideas I have or I come home completey exhausted and she is all about what she's figured out during her day off. By tomorrow everything for hers will be in contract so that will take some of the stress away. We will focus more on ours after our airfare is bought in Dec/Jan, but at least we have our venue and reception contracted. I have to say these kids have blown us away at all of the extra work hours they have added to pay for the things they want. I tell my daughter its her own little boot camp.
We decided to scrap a scouting trip, which honestly makes me nervous when I really think about it. We are using the money to fly down to Phoenix and see my grandmother. She is a big deal in my life and I really wanted her to meet FH before we got married and I knew she would not be able to travel for the wedding. We leave Sat. am and come home next Tuesday night. So excited and a much needed break. Well I guess I should get dressed and go to work again. LOL Have a good day ladies.

I haven't been around much since I'm now an old married! I'm not feeling fall this year, I'd prefer summer or winter. We're trying to figure out birthday weekend plans for me, it's thanksgiving weekend every year and I get 4 days off but we too are trying to cut back on spending so we probably won't get to go snowboarding in whistler this time around.

That maldives picture looks amazing Tanq and I'd love to be a tourist in Europe right now! Your job sounds pretty rad.

I'm on my 6-day stretch off from work, but for good reason! Participating in the Nike Women's Half Marathon in SF on Sunday, so I know I'm going to need the extra days off afterwards to recuperate! I haven't been training much (definitely more difficult for me to run after working a 12-hr night shift--7pm to 7am), so I may just do a light jog/walk the 13.1 miles! It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend compared to last year's marathon day!

Other than that, just in talks with a couple florists for estimates on flowers, which has been going great! I asked if they could order flowers for me and so that I could do DIY centerpiece arrangements and they said they would be happy to provide the flowers! It came as a surprise because I thought they'd say "no" and that they'd have to do it. Anyway, I haven''t decided on a florist, yet, but when I do I'll be sure to let you all know. :) Still leaning towards half DIY (centerpieces) and half made by the florist (bouquets).

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

PS Tanq, Berlin?! I've only been to 3 countries in Europe and hope to go back to visit more, but my FI lived in Cambridge for a whole year, so he's well traveled in Europe and doesn't really want to go back, but...he says he'd go back with me. I feel like I'd be dragging him along! Have a great weekend in London! Take lots of pics for us! :)

I'm around! Been busy with work and wedding stuff.  Trying to get a ton of stuff figured out and all the supplies for it so I can put it all together during my 11 days off at the holidays.  Want to put that time off to good use!
