Turtle Bay Resort wedding reviews?

We're planning to get married in Turtle Bay Resort. Any thoughts on the resort and their wedding services? Also, any suggestions for venues? I like how North Shore is laid back (or so they say, haven't been there). I got engaged in Maui and loved it there but I was thinking I should try and go to another island for the wedding. Hope you can help me ladies. Thanks!

Re: Turtle Bay Resort wedding reviews?

  • Congratulations! The views are amazing there! It's a little far out from everything else on the island which is fine, makes it feel secluded. The resort itself is kind of dated and could use some TLC. But the grounds and location are beautiful. Supposedly they have a great florist and they also have a spa so I think you can pretty much do everything there and not have to leave the resort. They do have a resort fee. Their wedding packages are a little pricey and if you took that money elsewhere on the island you could get more for your money.

In order to suggest other places for you to look in to, what do you have in mind?
  • I want somewhere secluded, laid back, with beach as the back drop. I want the venue to be in a hotel so I wont have to worry about accomodations.

If you want a resort wedding on the north shore, turtle bay is pretty much your only option.
  • Personally, we found Turtle Bay to be boring.  We went there for our honeymoon after we got married on Maui and we wished that we had either stayed on Maui or stayed in Waikiki while in Oahu.  It seemed like Turtle Bay appeals more towards older guests who love to golf & play tennis.  The pool there is freezing but it is nice and big.  One downside to our stay - it is always windy up there and it was cloudy quite often too.  This was at the beginning of July.

And I agree with the poster above - they need to do some massive upgrades.

  • We are getting married at Turtle Bay at Kuilima Point next week, and we couldn't be happier with their services.  We did not get a package though - that was too expensive, and we want to pick our own vendors, so we only got catering services from them, and most of the guests are staying there, but will also hang out in Waikiki either before or after the wedding.

The event coordinator at the hotel is very responsive, but that was towards the last 2 months of the wedding.  And that was the perfect time because at that point, you pretty much have an idea on what your wedding wants to look and feel like.  We booked the place in December of last year.

We also booked their florist, and she's is very nice and helpful.

I say go for Turtle Bay if you want to go in Oahu, but still get that quieter venue for your wedding.  You and your guests can always go to Waikiki at some point during the trip anyway.

    Good luck!
