Recommend your hairstylist/make up artist

Hi Ladies,  I'm just popping over from the Hawaii Bump board with a quick question. What hairstylist/make-up artist did you use (or are planning to use) for your wedding in Hawaii.  My sister is getting married in September at our family church in Kalihi and I'm hoping to locate a good make-up artist/hairstylist for her.  There would be a total of 6 of us needing to be "made up" that day. Do you have any recommendations?  Good/bad experiences with certain vendors?  Thanks in advance :)-jen

We ended up going to J Salon near Ward center for our hair. I was able to get appointments for me, my mom, and two bridesmaids all at the same time! It was great. I got my makeup done afterwards at home by a friend.

It was about $65 plus tip for my hair which was a LOT cheaper than some other stylists out there!

The salon isn't open on Sundays fyi!

I'm going with Bev Kaneshige (info in my bio) I liked her testimonials on her website because I could tell they were real and I liked how quickly she replied to my emails, her prices were fair in comparison and (please dont take this wrong) she had photos of hair and makeup on white girls that looked good, so I knew she'd be able apply makeup well on my features.

I'm going with Heather Heen of Delish Makeup Artistry.  I swear by her work - she is totally amazing.  She did my makeup for my engagement shoot and at other weddings, and I really couldn't be more pleased.  I've had so-so (and bad)experiences with other makeup artists.  I know a lot of girls who have had their makeup done by Heather and I have never ever heard anyone who didn't think she was unbelievable.  People still don't know much about her since she is starting out, but even top Hawaii fashion photographer Russell Tanoue uses her for his shoots! So she is respected in the industry. I tend to like a smoky eye and a lot of countouring and blending and Heather is amazing at it.  I think she really takes the time to make you look perfect and it really does show; other makeup artists don't take as much effort to perfect these things for you in my opinion; they just want to get you finished up so they can move on.  Hair is through Holly Stevens of Delish also, she cut my hair and styled it for my engagement shoot as well and I loved it.  Good luck!
