Maui Wedding HELP! PLEASE!

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the message Boards here on the knot!

We are having our wedding in Maui of hopefully January 2013!

My fiance is from is NEw Zealand, and I'm from Canada! We live in Canada, and are heading to Maui in Feb to have a look at some places for the wedding!

But I don't know where to look! I would like to have it at a hotel, but somewhere that is nice and elegant... But not to expensive....

PLEASE SEND ME SOME SUGGESTIONS!!!
Thank you!
Tracy

Re: Maui Wedding HELP! PLEASE!

  • The only hotel I looked at when i was planning was the Royal Lahaina.  But I know some other brides had their weddings at hotels.  Perhaps you should take a look at the vendor bios and see what other brides have suggested.
  • Thank you!

That was one that we are going to be looking at as well!

I've been reading some of the Posts, and ot seems like getting a WC in Maui might be a good idea!

Thank you for your response! It's very overwhelming!
  • Hey! We are having our small ceremony and reception at Merrimans in Kapalua. Take a look at their website. Planning wise everything has been great and we are just dealing with the coordinator there
  • Hi, I emailed a lot of the hotels (Sheraton, Makena Beach etc) and received information about holding weddings at those venues.  Most replied with quite a lot of helpful info in terms of prices and locations etc.  I can forward the emails to you if you would like them?

We also decided on Merriman's restaurant in Kapalua.  It suited the style of wedding we imagined and I felt that it was a much more affordable option for us. We have also had only good experiences with their co-ordinator so far.
  • Yay another "international" couple!  My FI is Aussie and I am Canadian.  After much research, we finally decided to hold the whole wedding at Five Palms in S.Kihei.  We are staying in the complex right next door (Kihei Surfside).   We originally wanted to do the wedding at a hotel, but in the end, it just got too expensive.  That being said, a friend of mine held her wedding at The Sheraton Maui and she loved it there!

(PS:  We are using Tropical Maui Weddings for our WC and so far they are excellent, just in case anyone needs a recommendation!)

  • Another great way to save money and still have a super amazing wedding is have a beach wedding, which saves thousands on venue rental and then have your reception at a really nice restaurant.

I did some price shopping on just the fees to use the resorts for my wedding and they started close to $2000 and you haven't paid for anything but the use of their grounds. Since your coming to Maui for your wedding I'm sure you want lots of photos on the beach anyway. We used Simple Maui Wedding http://www.simplemauiwedding.net. Their photography was amazing and they were so attentive. I really wanted something simple, but it really turned out amazing, it looked like we spent a ton.
