Hawaii

New to the board? Start here!

Welcome to the Hawaii board!  Whether you're dreaming of nuptuals with your toes in the sand, or planning an elaborate luau celebration, or reminiscing about your Hawaiian destination wedding, you've come to the right place!

We're a laid back, fun loving group that loves to give advice, gush over wedding details, and laugh.  Here are a few resources to help you get started!

Which island should I choose?
Every island is different and has its own charms.  Here on the board, Maui and Oahu are the two most common islands so you'll find more posts and resources about those than the others.  Knottie Spikeinc shared this link which some may find helpful: http://gohawaii.about.com/od/hawaiivacationplanner/a/island_scores.htm

What have others done for venues, invites, OOT bags, etc?

Check out the list of brides and locations on our board calendar.  Also, be sure to check out the planning websites.  Most brides have links to their planning bios in their signatures at the bottom of each post.  There's a wealth of information about vendors, invitation wording, attire, accomodations, and more.  Here's a link to a collection of Knottie Bios over time: http://hawaiiknottie.weebly.com/

For Maui brides & grooms:
Knottie jackcody has put together an awesome Maui planning guide.  http://mauiweddingplanning.weebly.com/

The Parasol -- what's that all about?
We have 2 parasols: one that says Mahalo, and another that says "Just Maui'd".  These are paper parasols that are passed from Knottie to Knottie here on this board.  If you're interested in having it, please PM or page me and I'll update the calendar to show that you want it.  It is up to each bride to communicate with the one before & after her to ensure proper parasol handoff.  Here's a photo of it from carrieoz_76:

Next to get Lei'd
Knottie maui2011 has created a signature graphic specifically for our board!  Each Hawaii bride gets to display the "Next to Get Lei'd" graphic in her forum signature when she's the next one to leave for her wedding.  To enable it, past the following into your signature field and remove the asterisks:

The rules

I know nobody reads this stuff, so let me net it out.
