Decent Oahu Packages?

There's so many companies. I just haven't the slightest clue if I should go with a packaged deal or get a WC. Our wedding is going to be very small, 25 or less. Almost half of them are children. We have already booked our rental home/wedding location on the North Shore. I just don't know where to go from here! Please help!!!

I went with myhawaiiweddings. They have many different packages for all different budgets. You can even add in some items if what your looking for isn't in the package you picked. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Rev Hill, She also acts as our WC! Every email I have sent her, starting last August. She has responded to me the same day and has also called me on a few occasions just to confirm things or to make sure all is well. I get married in one week so I can let you know how everything went.

  • Yeah, please let me know how it goes! I'm scared to trust these companies without real recommendations.

I understand completely! I have personally talked with the Reverend/WC about 5 times and she seems very real and genuine. I found her because the Hilton recommended her which is the only reason why I contacted her.

  • Our hotel had a package deal, the Outrigger Reef, but it's in Waikiki, not on the north shore. Let me know if you want information

  • I so know how you feel, it took me about 3 months to find what I was looking for. I happen to find my service at random doing Google search. I am using Above Heaven's Gate in Waimanalo, they're ceremonies are on the easternside of the island, but their sunset ceremonies are on the northwest shore. Captn Howe and Sara are AMAZING! You can customize any package to whatever you want it to be. They have videos and pics up from weddings they've done. Sara always get's back to me within 1-2 days if not the same day I email her. I like Captn Howie b/c he's a bit eccentric which is right up my aisle (hehe I love cheesy wedding humor all of a sudden). He has amazing videos of his style and wedding philosophy, that's what really sold me. I felt like I knew him instantly b/c he was so down to earth. We are paying more for our flight and rental car than for the whole wedding lol, but the quality of service is amazing. We are getting married in Sept and I'll give a full review and pix of course. Good lunck and if you have any questions about my experience with them thus far feel free to message me.

  • I'm a local Hawaii resident. My best girlfriend used Weddings of Hawaii (www.wedhawaii.com) for her wedding. It was a small affair with just family. I am using their photographer next week for my own wedding. They can coordinate everything for you - flowers, hair, site & permits, photography, etc. The minister (Pastor Karen) did a fantastic job with Amanda's ceremony. I thought of using her myself, but my uncle just retired from the ministry and moved to Hawaii so he will officiate for us.

    Good luck!
  • If you don't mind my asking - where did you book? My wedding sounds similar to yours, very small, about 28 people with about 10 being children. I have been looking at different hotels but am struggling with some (Turtle Bay) to even return my calls/emails. I know the culture is more laid back in Hawaii but starting to feel a little anxious.

    Thanks.

Aloha - I am a local bride and I totally understand what you are going through and it must be difficult planning from so far away. If you don't mind me asking where did you book? I am getting married at the Sunset Ranch in the North Shore and staying that weekend at Turtle Bay resort,. My wedding is going to be 150 people but I have the most amazing wedding planner. She just started out and has great relationships with all the high quality vendors on the island. I love her! She goes over and beyond for me. I almost feel bad because I feel like I am taking advantage of her:( Her name is Yanicke and she is the owner of www.zenjuweddingsnevents.com ... Check her out and tell her that Renee referred you:) She does full, partial, and day of coordination. The thing that I love the most is that she is very organized and not cheesy... She specializes in high end estate weddings... She knows how to make simplicity look very classy... I get married next year but I feel like all the details are going smoothly and everything is in line already with so much time to spare... Good luck! Mahalo!!!!!

Awww I am a local bride and feel bad that you are having such a hard time. Turtle Bay is normally great with getting back to people. Such a great sunset and lovely hotel. My favorite by far on the island. YOu can call my wedding planner Yanicke. She is amazing and has the top vendors on the island. She arranged everything for me from ceremony, photographers, venue, caterer, she even bought the alcohol at costco for the estate, make up, hair, officiant, everything you can ask for. She even booked a acupuncture session for me and my bridal party. She has personal relationships with these vendors so she gets great rates. I loooooooooooooove her!!!!! She does full, partial, and day of coordination. I think she is reasonable for all that she does. Check her out... and tell her I referred you... Goodluck! www.zenjuweddingsnevents.com

I LOVE THE NORTH SHORE. I live on the East side of the island but north shore will always have a special place in my heart... Make sure you if you are having a beach wedding to do it any season exceot for winter because the waves up there can reach 20 -30 ft.... Other seasons it is calm and sweet... It is the surf capitol of the world:)
