Overwhelmed !!!!!!! Just got engaged ;)

Hello Ladies,

Planning the dream wedding is making me a little crazy LOL We are looking for a venue that can host both the ceremony and reception in Maui without going broke ..... any ideas?? We want to be able to have a luau or music in the venue for about 30 people.

Thnaks,
Emm

  • Welcome and congrats! My fiancé and I booked Olowalu Plantation House on a weekday and I feel like that is pretty affordable. You can have both your ceremony, reception, and entertainment. Sugarman Estate is also a popular one... Those are the only two I can think of... Hope that helps, but for now just enjoy your engagement and take your time planning and booking! Congrats, again!

  • I'm getting married on Oahu so I'm no help but I wanted to say congrats and welcome you to the board! Good luck planning!

  • Congratulations!! You can also check out some of the restaurants to do both. Gannon's is beautiful and has incredible grounds, and Mama's Fish House is awesome too. Kimmy is getting married there and it's really the perfect place for her :)
  • Welcome to the board! I guess the first thing you need to decide is what "without going for broke" means to you! You can have gorgeous weddings for all different price points, so figuring out what you want to spend is the best place to start.
  • Congratulations!!! Welcome to the board!!! :)

  • Congratulations! All the ladies before have given great advice. I'm not sure if you'd be able to do a full luau at a cheap price, but you could always attend one with your guests.  That's that we are doing.
  • I'm getting married in Oahu, but wanted to say congrats and welcome! :-) The ladies here have awesome ideas so I'm sure  you'll find what you're lookin for! Let the fun filled madness begin :-)

  • Thanks Ladies ;)

I really like the idea of having the reception in a restaurant and do the Lua as an activity for my guest.

Thanks again for the welcoming !!!
  • Welcome and congrats!

We're doing our reception at Timba on a Sunday so the price is reasonable and we can have music past the 10pm curfew.  For the Luau we are doing it as an activity with our the guests on the Friday night before.  Happy Planning!! :)

  • Instead of a luau we are hiring a company do do a 30-40 min hula/dance/fire knife show with musicians.  That might be another option for you, but I'm an Oahu person, so can't help with Maui

  • Welcome and congrats!

  • We are getting Married at Sheraton Maui and then taking guests to old lahaina luau for reception. few cocktails in between at hotel while we do pictures.  OLL has wedding packages available, and you can get a group rate (10% off) for groups >15. per person its $90ish. it seems like a ton but its open bar, authentic hawaiian food and entertainment for ~3-4 hours. The gals over there were very nice and easy to work with for setting up reservations, the earlier you book the better seats you get. Its not private, but they have a great environment that makes it feel like you aren't in a cafeteria or with a ton of other people.

alot of the hotels on Kaanapali have shuttles going into Lahaina town and they drop off really close to luau, getting rid of transportation problem.
  • The luau sounds really good! We have one planned at Old Lahaina Luau for our rehearsal  for 50 people and they were very easy to set up reservations with. Groups over 15 people get a 10% discount, its not much but every little bit helps. Also, you are able to cancel or change reservations until 3 days prior, when they would charge the credit card on file. That means you can add or take away any number of guests that are needed. They may also include your names and an announcement in the luau programs which is sweet. They may also be able to put out favors needed at your reserved tables. So a luau would be very cost friendly in the long run. However, all the girls suggestions are amazing. Ololwalu, Sugarman's, Gannon's, Mama's Fish House, Timba, I've heard great reviews about all of them! :)
