DESTINATION WEDDING IN HAWAII...SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

I would like to plan a destination wedding in Hawaii for this fall (September 2012). I want to get away from the stress of planning a big wedding, and go somewhere tropical and fun! I am interested in the islands with less commercial businesses and not as touristy- like Kauai or Maui. Any suggestions from anyone who has been to Hawaii? I would like to keep it as inexpensive as possible (don't we all?! ;) ).

I went to Maui for my HM but I have a friend who was married at the Wailea Marriott in Maui.  She planned it from Dallas and as far as I know, everything went smoothly.

Go to the Destination Wedding message board and the Hawaii wedding message board. I had a Hawaii destination wedding planned, but we changed our mind. There is a ton of information on those boards!

I got married on the big island of hawaii May 2011 and decided to move November 2011.  How many people would you be inviting?  We had a small wedding at Kapoho - beautiful tide pools on the east side of the island at sunset.  We had a very small very inexpensive wedding!  We used focal point for one hour of photography, Noelani floral designs for the orchid bouquets and ti leaf leis, and Kanani's Creations for a small cupcake wedding cake.  I love the big island and would highly recommend getting married there.

Welcome and Congrats. Hopefully you know that they moved your post, but don't worry there is a lot of info here and the brides have a lot of knowledge.
Do you know what your budget is? or how many guests you are thinking may attend or that you will invite? What type of HI wedding do you want? Intimate or the whole shebang but tropical? or somewhere inbetween?
HI is expensive but there are brides here who are renting venues and bringing in multiple vendors and there are brides that just invite a few guests, marry on the beach and have a restaruant reception.
HTH Happy planning and don't be afraid to ask.

    Congratulations!
To keep it inexpensive get married on the beach and just pay for the permit.

Do a restaurant reception instead of estate or ballroom?

i am using Zenju Weddings... www.zenjuweddingsnevents.com You can check them out. I love my planner. She is amazing and just starting out! I am planning with her way in advance,. My wedding is not until next year but I speak with her almost every day and she does not mind. She has made me so knowledgeable with Oahu.  You can check her website and see if she does the other islands. I am not sure... If not I can ask her recommendation for any planners out that way... Mahalo and good luck!

I just got married on the big island of hawaii at Honualai. It was amazing and having a destination wedding was low stress which was nice. THe big island is not very touristy as long as you stay away from Kona which can be.
