Oahu Day of Coordinators?

Hi everyone!

My FI and I are thinking that we can probably get away with having a day-of coordinator as opposed to a full service coordinator.  I would love to be able to sit back and relax on the actual day.

Does anyone have any rec's for a good day-of coordinator?

We are having our ceremony and reception at the Ko'olau Ballrooms next October 18th, so excited we picked a date!!

If anyone could offer some advice that would be amazing, thanks!!

Hi there! I'm actually having my ceremony and reception there next July Smile
On my recent visit with the event coordinator at Ko'olau, they told me it would be great to have a "point person", maybe someone in your family or a close friend who can handle any questions or problems that arise on the day of the wedding, so you aren't bothered with any issues that arise. Personally, I was thinking of just designating that "point person" to handle minor issues and not even having a day of coordinator.
Just out of curiousity, what are the duties you might assign your day of coordinator? I'm just wondering because maybe I need to think about getting one too(?)

    Hey!
Oh that's great! You're the only other person I've seen on here that's getting married there.
We haven't actually even seen the place which is tricky! So if you have any pics from your visit there, I would love love to see them! We're having the ceremony in the garden and then using the glass ballroom.

Well, I've thought about doing the 'point person' too but I decided that I just want everyone at the wedding to be able to relax and not have to deal with any issues that come up etc.  Although it would save a fair amount of money!
From what I can tell, the Day of Coordinator gives you suggestions of vendors and listens to your idea of what you want for your wedding to point you in the right direction.  Then they jump in around 6 weeks before the wedding and finish up all your contracts, make sure everyone is on the same page, that all vendors know what time to be there etc.  They then attend the rehearsal to make sure everyone knows what's happening and then are the point person for the day of the wedding.  Some I've seen also make sure centerpieces are set up correctly etc. And make sure everyone gets paid that needs to be paid.   I think it just sounds like they take a lot of stress off and you don't have to worry about the small things on the big day!

    Aloha,
I made an album of pictures to send to you of Ko'olau glass ballroom and ceremony area, but I don't think they can be sent via the Knot discussion board. If you PM me your email address, I can send them to you that way. I also have a video I took of the space, but the video quality isn't the best, but I can send it anyway if you would  like.
And wow, that's so interesting that you chose Ko'olau without ever seeing it! I can't imagine. I've think I've visited every location available here, but I finally decided on Ko'olau due to their offering of an indoor reception facility, with multiple lanais so the outdoor space is still accessible. The event coordinator there that I've worked with at the Ko'olau Ballrooms is awesome; they are so helpful! I can definitely see why you'd want a day of coordinator though, being that you don't live here on the island.
