Welcome get together

Hi Knotties!!
We are getting married in Maui in August.
We are funding our whole wedding and we really want to do a welcome get together.  We are thinking of doing a "no host" welcome thing.  We were thinking of going to a Luau or maybe something more adventurous like zip lining or something.  Suggestions??

The luau would be a great idea! We're doing a good deal of adventurous activities while we're in Hawaii. My fiance is going skydiving the morning of the wedding, we're going on a zipline tour, SCUBA diving, and biking down the volcano.

Just make sure you think of all of your guests. While I would LOVE to go skydiving with FI the morning of, my mom and his mom would NOT. So I'm going to stay on the ground with them and get massages instead.

The luau is a great idea, just be sure to call ASAP to reserve a group block because they sell out fast. You can always change the number of people in your block up until a week before (if you're going to the one in Lahaina). We did that the night after the wedding and everyone loved it.

We also did a "Welcome Happy Hour" at Kimo's in Lahaina, and just paid for 2 drinks per person. It was a blast and the setting/view was amazing.

We did a Welcome Bbq at our place (hosted), and then two days after the wedding we did a morning kayak with a Maui Eco Tours (amazing company) and the Old Lahaina Luau in the evening with everyone (no host). If you're doing no-host activities, make sure you indicate that it's an optional event.

Another idea is a sunset cruise which my friend did.  It was really pricey (considering that everyone was dropping a ton of money to fly to Hawaii and stay in Hawaii) but I hear everyone had fun.
