Still cant decide on a beach in west maui for ceremony, help!

Hello All, I'm having such a hard time deciding on a west maui beach for a small ceremony of 7 people. I'm leaning towards Ironwoods, but I hear it's breezier than others and I've read the stairs are hard to get down for older people (we have grandparents coming). My photgrpaher suggest DT flemming, but I think the trees in othe rpics I've seen are not the prettiest. My parents like Kapuala, but I've heard thats often crowded. I just cant seem to decide. Is anyone passionate about one particular beach that you really are confident would be great? This will be a sunset wedding in West Maui in October. I'm open to suggestions.

  • From my experience the beaches in West Maui are much more crowded than the beachs in Wailea or Makena (south maui). Have you considered South Maui for the ceremony?
  • I agree with Brea...there is a beach we went to in front of the future Andaz hotel (Hyatt brand) in Wailea and it was so empty! AND, it was a Saturday afternoon! There's hotel construction going on, but you'll be taking photos with the ocean behind you anyway, right?! It's called Mokapu Beach Park.

It was a bit windy, though. But mornings are much more calm...and definitely less crowded!

  • Oh, and we went on a Saturday, so there wasn't any construction going on. Don't know what it's like on a weekday, though. =/ That beach was gorgeous!

  • I havent really considered South Maui because we are all staying in West Maui, I was trying to make it convenient and less driving for everyone.
  • We went to Slaughterhouse one day the last time we were on Maui and were the only two people at the place!
  • Fiance and I and 17 guests are all staying in West Maui and getting married in South Maui early in the morning for all the reasons you guys have just described. Its gorgeous down there! I'm stressing the carpooling a bit, but worst case scenerio we will rent a van for the day to help and others have offered to help carpool as well so that we don't have to fork over tons for a shuttle. HTH!

  • Po'olenalena beach is amazing, but it is south...
  • Have you heard of merrimans restraunt...its beautiful...we chose merrimens for our wedding next year!
