suggestion for wedding coordinator

We would like to be get married in Feb 2012. Still deciding oahu vs maui. But thought more importantly we will need someone to help us in planning the wedding since we are looking at 50-100 guests. Is a day of coordinator enough or should I get a wedding coordinator? What's the average cost of each? I will probably need someone to guide me and give me some suggestions along the way.  Any suggestions for reasonably priced WC? Thanks.

Hi! It was a huge help for me to have a full service coordinator. Not being from hawaii it was great to have someone you trust offer vendor advice and how to get things done. It was also helped me stay within my budget. Sorry I don't know what the rate difference is. For full service i think it may be $3-$5. I would suggest picking an island first to avoid extra travel costs and for island specific Knowledge.

I hired Kelly Miller of  a Perfect Paradise wedding in Maui.  Her prices are on her website.  She was great to speak with and did not pressure me into booking her the first time I spoke to her as a few others did.

If you go with Maui I cannot recommend Cherise Shulman with The Perfect Wedding Maui enough!  I just got back from my wedding and thanks to her everything went off perfectly.  Cherise is incredibly nice, super laid back, really really organized, her prices are fantastic, and she gives you a spreadsheet with all your costs that you can update throughout the planning process to see where your budget is at.  I was really unorganized and Cherise was so helpful and never made me feel bad for being indecisive and gave me options whenever I was unsure about what I wanted.  She is also great about answering questions, I sent her more e-mails than I ever thought I would at the start and she always answered within 24 hours if not the same day.  If you go to her website just know it's not the most up to date graphically but it gives you the info you need and you can also check out her facebook page.  Good luck and feel free to message if you have any questions!

Welcome and congrats!!! If you do not favour one island over the other then i would look at venues on both first and pick the venue you like the best. If you decide to go private estate then you can hire a full service coordinator or a day of coordinator...depending on how much guidance you want and what their packages are...a resort will usually provide a WC as part of their packages. Welcome. Should you choose Oahu I HIGHLY recommend Dianna at Oahu Weddings. She was amazing. She will offer you either service. We only did day of service since we were not doing a reception. Happy planning.

IIf on Oahu, check out our awesome coordinator Dianna Shitanishi from Hawaii Weddings and Events http://www.hawaiiweddingsandevents.com/ . We had full service coordination, but she had several other packages available, lots of ladies on the board have used her as well.

I also recommend Dianna Shitanishi. I will not be using her for our wedding, but did get a quote from her and speak to her on the phone.  She's really responsive and it is clear that she knows her stuff! I'm using someone who goes by referrals only, but she is amazing.  PM me if you need more info.  Good luck!
