Turtle Bay Appt

Hey ladies -

I know there have been some talks about Turtle Bay on here and some slight problems.  Well I had my first phone coference with Sheri there and it went great.  We were on the phone for about 40 mins and really got some things hammered out.  How the ceremony will go, what kind of things we were envisioning - bamboo arch, tiki torches, chairs, the different restaurants, cake, etc.  We have scheduled a time to meet face to face when I go out there in Nov - we are meeting on the 10th.  I am sooo excited to actually be there and see where we are getting married.  Never been to HI before!  What kinds of things do you think I should bring up at the meeting?  Any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi,  sounds great!

I've vacationed in Oahu about 5-6 times in the past few years and also have been out there for 3 DW - 1 friend & 2 family at the Moana & Halekulani! We went out for a hotel scouting trip in July and wanted the north shore feel rather than the Waikiki area - we live in LA so figured if we wanted a big city feel we might as well be doing it at one of our local beach cities. I just got my planning trip scheduled for January and we'll be married April 5th.  You'll be out there so soon, I can't wait to hear your feedback.

While there this is what I am planning: food & cake tasting/menu planning, checking out the different hotel room types since we have a block & rates for wedding guests, checking out the different restaurants and the Bay Club (Teri said this was open late night so a place for people to drink or hang once your event ends) sneaking a peek if there's another wedding there that weekend (not crashing though!)  Also I want to checking out the local restaurants - lots of great reviews on Ted's Bakery in Haleiwa.

I'm up in the air for hair & makeup - I'd like to try their Spa Luana while out there but they have no portfolio or reviews other than a few on yelp.  It would save on the travel costs that other shcarge.  But I'm worried if I don't like it I'll be stuck scrambling for someone to do hair & makeup.  Maybe do engagement photos while there if I do a hair & makeup trial.

This is all I can think of for now.

Thanks soo much for all of your advice.  I am having a trial appt done for hair and makeup by Sarah Pacheco - her portfolio is really good!  So I we will see!  Where are you getting married at?  Turtle Bay?  I think TB is doing our cake - I send a picutre to our coordinator and she is going to see if her chef can do it!  Fingers crossed - it is very cool!

Good luck to you as well :)  congrats!

So glad to hear that you had a good call with Sheri.  Thanks for sharing!  That's great that you will be able to go visit in November.  My fiance and I aren't planning a planning trip out there, but we went to Oahu a year and a half ago and stayed at Turtle Bay for one night and it was gorgeous out there.

I'd love to hear both your feedback once you see the venues (and especially if you get to see some actual weddings happening!).  My ceremony and reception are both at Kuilima Point - where are yours?  We are also planning on moving the party to the Bay Club after 9pm.

Hi again ladies, our ceremony is in the pavilion & we want an indoors reception so it's in the kuilima ballroom.

Our ceremony is going to be at the Stables beach and then we are going to stay out there to watch the sunset - then we are going to go inside to 21 degrees for dinner.  I cannot wait to see what it is going to look like - I will take lots of pics!

The pavilion is sooo pretty Sp2012....if we were having a bigger ceremony I would consider that.
