OOT Guest Bags

Show me your inspiration pictures!!

Do you know of anything that you are for sure including in your bags?

Do you have any fun templates for brochures, wedding information sheets, etc. that you plan to use for your OOT guest bags?

Any website suggestions for where to find cute bags, cards, totes, etc. that you are using for your bags?

This is one of the next projects that I plan to start working on....so I need inspiration!!

Sorry for being a PW again...

Re: OOT Guest Bags

  • I am keeping these pretty simple.  I am going to find just some cheap paper bags that maybe come in a pretty color.

I am going to include bottles of water- two snacks- sweet and salty- breath mints or gum and that will prob be all.

I am not including anything about the area because most of my guest are local and not from oot
  • I found this for my inspiration, no idea how I'm going to accomplish it, but I love this for the welcome letter

In our bags I'd like to include, travel sized sunscreen, a frisbee, bottled water, some sea shells, maybe a mini champagne, and then brochures for attractions in the area (gonna raid a local hotel for these, lol). Since we are by the beach, I thought it would be cute to package everything up in a sand bucket and wrap in cellophane.

I found cute bags on etsy or use something in your theme to make it unique, like a wicker basket,  sand buckets, upside down hat, etc.

We bought these (clicky) bags from Oriental Trading and will be filling them with snacks, bottled water, and some aspirin and tums, etc etc.  They're on the small side and we didn't want to go crazy over it.

I'll probably attached a note card with our name and wedding date for the hotel, and if we add anything else to the bags it'll be the shuttle schedule (not sure what this is going to be yet, though).

I think I have decided not to make these. None of my OOTGs will be staying at a hotel and a good portion of them will be at my house or FSIL's one block away. So just about anything they need I'll be providing for them. These welcome bags are usually for hotels right?

IF I were to make them for sure would be sunscreen, maps/ attractions, some little souvenir of the country like a keychain, shot glass or something of the sorts, medicine for headaches and upset tummies, bottled water, maybe a local edible treat... and I think that's about it. Can't think of anything else for now.
  • When you have a lot of OOT guests, it becomes exorbitantly expensive to do big OOT bags. I'm planning on doing a timeline of the weekend's events and then putting in some water and a Philly softpretzel or two. That's about it.

  • Not sure yet what we're doing for bags, possibly ones in our colors from Oriental Trading.

As for whats in them, water bottles, tums, snacks (candy, chips), and we are going to get some promotional maps of the area that show restaurants and stores. Almost half of the guests (possiibly more than that actually) are oot and we want them to know how to get around.

Also, we are going to have a big suite in the hotel for guests to hang out in. This is something that started in my family years ago because we don't see each other often so we stay up, play games, eat, and talk. So the suite will have lots of board/card games and lots of snacks. It will also have travel size toiletries in case thy forgot somehting.

  • I love the idea of welcome newsletters....I am bad at designing but hopefully that is something I will be able to figure out!!

Thanks for the tips everyone :) We will have a fair amount of OOT guests so I think we will plan to keep it simple too - a bag, a cute tag, a welcome newsletter, some waters, some candy, and hopefully something edible from Indy.

bridetobe I love the idea of having a soft pretzel in your bags!! if only that made sense to indiana I would steal it, haha

I know I commented on Pinterest already, but in case you check this more, do you have a template for this? I love this but I really am not that crafty (despite my aspirations to make all sorts of stuff) and would LOOOOOVE some help creating this!

[QUOTE]ETA: If you read the Pinterest convo, you'll also notice that all I did was recreate a Word newsletter template on a letter-sized sheet of paper with an eye on where the margins would be were it two pages per sheet. It took a while to figure out the autoshapes, text boxes, and columns, but it's totally doable.

Thanks! I'll mess around with it when I have a bit of time. Thanks for the info!

  • I think we are using brown paper bags for the actual bag. Our wedding has a vintage theme, so we've been using brown kraft paper for a lot of things, so it makes sense to carry it through with the OOT bags, plus they are inexpensive!

I had "tags" made on vistaprint with our mongram in our wedding colors that we'll tie to the bags. We used the free premium business cards for this, so just paid shipping, so 250 came to about $4.00. Now I just have to punch holes in them and tie twine through them.

In the bags, I know we'll have door hangers (I used LM's template to make them!) and water bottles. Other than that, I'm not sure. I want to do a brochure with a timeline and things to do in the area and some snacks. I think I may just buy some snacks in bulk at Costco, and then divide them up into little baggies and seal with some cute labels. It should come out a lot cheaper than buying the snack sized bags of chips/cookies/whatever.
