I was on here a few months ago when I 1st decided to get married in Hawaii. I was planning to use Hawaiian Eye Weddings and I had a particular place picked out to stay from VRBO.com. Then everything unravelled.
The place I was planning to stay with my wedding party ended up booking the week I needed with another party just a few hours before I called them to make the down payment (even though I had been in contact with them for over 2 weeks).
Then I found out that Hawaiian Eye Weddings won't go to the North Shore of Oahu to do weddings anymore. Apparently it's just too far out for them... So I was back to square one.
Luckily, a place I was originally looking at on VRBO.com (before I found the one I mentioned above) contacted me to tell me that, even though I had decided not to stay with them, they wanted to recommend Laakea Ocean Weddings for wedding planning, since they had great experiences with them in the past. I felt such a rush of gratitude and relief. I found out that they still had that week open to book and booked it! It's not on the beach like the other one, but it's right up next to the mountains ad the beach is only a few minutes drive.
Then I contacted Laakea Ocean Weddings. Elias, the wedding coordinator, has been great so far. He seems very passionate about staying within my budget, which is fantastic, and believes, like I do, that you can have an elegant wedding without spending a fortune.
AND family seems to be finally coming around to the idea! We were thinking from original reactions that no one in FI's family would come with us, but now they are actually talking about it. I know that doesn't mean they
will come, but it's a step in the right direction. My granpma is actually talking about it without being negative, now.
The wedding is still a long way off, but it seems the sun is shining after all
