I would love some input on Rev wear!

We are having an outdoor ceremony but my gown is more on the formal side and FI will be in a suit and everything else is semi-formal. I'm thinking maybe the Rev's traditional hawaiian outfit with head wreath-thingy may seem out of place although I really do like it.

So...this leaves us with him in a white or black shirt with black pants.  My gowns ivory soooo I thought that white might look odd but then I worried the poor man would be hot in black. Any suggestions?

You could always pick another color for his shirt. Rather than trying to match white to ivory or one shade of ivory to ivory in our case (my dress is also ivory), FI is going to wear a teal button-down dress shirt and khakis. It's definitely less formal than your plan, but it would also work with black dress pants.

If you have another color that your accents will be, or your bouquet you could try to coordinate with that.

    Hope that helps :)

You won't notice the different in whites.  My dress was diamond white, H's shirt was cream, and the guys' shirts were a darker cream.  In an outside wedding when it's so bright, I don't think you notice any difference enough to think "that doesn't go!"  I'd say go with white, or a colored shirt, if you like.

    Hi everyone,
I decided Carrie was prob. right that the disparity in ivory and white wouldn't be too much and he can show up in white or black.   I really loved the traditional outfit but I found when I checked out photos, all I noticed was the Rev and not the couple so while very cool, I was distracted.

It's kind of funny, i discovered during planning that I'm wayyyy more traditional than I thought. I had no idea. It cropped up when I picked the dress and then here and in my ceremony. Other stuff I"m very easy going but some of the wedding details became important to me to be just so.

It's always really amusing when you figure out something about yourself you didn't know before your wedding planning!!!  I'm with Carrie.  Definitely in photos you won't know the difference.  In person right next to each other cloth on cloth, then maybe you will notice, but I don't think people are that OCD about colors!
