Church Attire for the Groom

My fiance and I are going at it regarding whether or not he and his groomsmen should wear a suit for our destination wedding next year.  I say yes!  But he has a point that Hawaii can get really hot & humid.  Not something we're used to here in So. San Francisco.

Any suggestions?  He wants to wear a white linen shirt with khaki pants.  Is that even appropriate?

My husband wore a black suit and all the guys just took their jackets off after the ceremony, everyone was fine heat wise.

Which month and where are you having your wedding?  DH wore a suit and took his jacket off after the ceremony & photos.  He and the rest of the guys (almost all guests came in suits) seemed just fine for our March wedding.

    I would consider:
    1) the formality of your wedding
    2) the rules of your venue - is your church OK with linen shirts?
    3) venue - if it's an indoor, cooled church then suits should be fine
