Hi everyone,
So although I wish I was getting married in Hawaii, unfortunately a destination wedding wasn't a possibility so I'm doing a Hawaiian themed wedding here in New England. I'm looking for some suggestions on table names for the reception that would be Hawaiian inspired/themed. I know the usual island names is common, but that only works for 7 tables, and I'm going to have 15 guest tables.
Any ideas? I thought about names of beaches, but I worry that guests will get confused if there are 3 beaches that start with a W, and 3 that start with a K, etc....I may know there is a distinct difference, but for someone just trying to find their seat, it could be an issue.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Reception Table Name Ideas
You could find a translator site and use either words like love, friendship, etc and translate them into hawaiian words or even translate the actual table number (which I don't recommend because some numbers can get quite long LOL).
You could use hawaiian or tropical flower names, hmmmm that's all I can think of now but I'll get back to you if I think of more : )
Spam musubi
Shaved ice
Loco moco
Surboards
Pipeline
Kona coffee
Mai tai
Humuhumunukunukuapuaa (LOL)
Kalua pork
Lei
Luau
Hula
etc?
I also like the idea of Hawaiian versions of words...
An alternative could be to use table numbers, but tie them into a visual that is Hawaiian...like varied color hisbiscus print papers per table, etc.
pikake
plumeria
hibiscus
puakenikeni
laua'e
heliconia
but now, I like using the places of hawaii!
or, you could use a combo of the two.
you could just use hawaiian words too:
keahi (fire)
makani (wind)
aina (land)
kai/moana (ocean)
nalu (waves)
mauka (mountain)
aloha (love)
honi (kiss)
lei (self explanatory)
those are off the top of my head, so don't quote me on it!
for mine, I'd like to have an image of the word on the card also.
Also, my post made me hungry. Darn it.

Dole Plantation
Kilauea/Volcano National Park
Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park (the City of Refuge)
Road to Hana

(just grab a map and have fun)
