dress change - need help! :)

hi ladies!

i am a two dress bride, and wanted your feedback on when it would be best to change!

Dress #1 is super formal and is bigger - I like the dramatic dress look for the first dance, so I am thinking put the first dance in early in the formal program for the reception (all in the name of the photos, of course!).

Dress #2 is much more sleek, so I was thinking this would be a good cake cutting dress?

How feasible is it to swap out during the reception, and I'm trying to figure out where I should keep Dress #2 stored until it's time to wear it (we are not having our reception at a hotel) and where I should stash Dress #1 after I change.

Any tips? :)

We did our first dance right after our entrance into the reception.  I generally like frontloading the key activities so it's not as disruptive later.  After the dance, we had some welcome speeches & toasts, and then a bit of a lull during dinner.  You could definitely sneak away while the guests are eating to change.

Storing your dress depends on your venue.  Can you talk to them about a locked room / private area to put the dress(es)?  I didn't change in Hawaii, but at our AHR the hotel provided a locked room near the ballroom so I could keep my red gown and jewelry until I was ready to change.
