Royal Kona Resort?

We are thinking of having our wedding at the Royal Kona Resort. We are on a tight budget, and it seems to be able to provide us with most things we would like.

Has anyone had any experience with this location? Our guest would probably not be staying here, they would probably be staying at Wyndham, so it would just be for ceremony and reception.

Thanks for any advice!

Re: Royal Kona Resort?

  • I'm hoping it is a good place. We just booked with them for August 1st. We don't plan on staying their either but they did have great pricing. Plus Brian answered all of my questions before we signed the contract.
  • The pictures and pricing seem great! We are looking to secure our date soon with Brian. Where are you planning on staying?

Im Tiffany by the way. :-)
  • We don't have anything set in stone for where we are staying but we do have an option of getting a condo from a family friend for a great price. It's so exciting to meet another bride that is getting married on the big island.

I know me too! and at the same place! We just sent Brian our contract, Im excited to get planning.
    When is your wedding date?
    Ours is July 13, 2013
  • Our date is Aug. 1, 2013. So you will have to let me know how it is.
  • The Royal Kona is pretty OK. It is downtown Kona, which isn't as nice or resorty as Waikoloa, but is definitely more local. The Hotel is a landmark and easy to spot, and while Alii drive has some issue areas, the Royal Kona isn't near them. It is a solid choice, and when I looked into them, a good deal for the location. The Sheraton is close to the Royal Kona, and has a fairly recent remodel, so I would say the quality is a bit better, but I don't know about their pricing or wedding assistance or rules.

Thanks for the tip! I would loved to have booked up in Waikoloa, but RKR was just way more in my budget. Plus we are not staying there, and its close to our Wydham condo. So really we are just using it for the grounds/
