Introducing myself

Name Eryn
Island Oahu
Wedding date Junish 2012
What you are most looking forward to: Changing my name on my uniforms!

As you might have guessed from the uniforms comment, I'm in the Navy and so is my Hubby to Be. We just got engaged and I'm so exited!!! My friend turned me on to the Knot and I'm glad she did because I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed. There is SOOOO much to plan! We're talking Junish for the wedding because we have lots of kids on both sides of the family that want to be here. We're stationed on Oahu and figured we'd get married here because if we went home one family would still have to travel for the wedding. My beloved sister in law (big bro's wife) is designing my dress, we've been emailing back and forth like mad for that! Coordinating with a seamstress here for fittings and such. I'm going crazy looking at venues and caterers. It's always been my dream to do a dinner and dancing reception but it's very pricey here. Anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the Board!     Since you're in the military you should try Hale Koa Hotel, they had best pricing )

Welcome to the board and congratulations!!  This has been a HUGE resource during the wedding planning process and everyone here has been so helpful....I'm sure you'll find it useful.  :)  I'm getting married on Maui, so I don't have many suggestions about Oahu venues.  However, as destiny1108 said, Hale Koa Hotel has been used by previous knotties before and only eligible to members of the armed forces and their families.  You might want to check it out!  :)

Welcome to The Knot!!  Congrats on your engagement, believe it or not - the time will fly by!  I started out at 17 months and it seemed long at first but now we are down to 4.5 and it seems to be going fast, fast!  I would love to see what you are doing for your dress, how lucky you are to have such a talented FSIL!   Definitely take advantage of your military options, they will save you a ton!

Welcome! Congrats to you & your fiance!
I second all the ladies, there is a lot of info on here & definitely ask about military discounts for everything you look into.

Hale Koa, thanks for the idea! What a crazy week! This is probably backwards but planning the wedding is my stress reliever right now!
