anyone have a reading done during ceremony??

Want to honor my aunt who is special to me in some way...not sure if her doing a quick blessing or reading during ceremony would flow??!!

Re: anyone have a reading done during ceremony??

  • We didn't have any readings, but our officiant did write our ceremony from scratch so we thought adding a reading would almost take away from her words.  If you want to honor your aunt, some possible ideas:

    - Reading / poem
    - Give her a corsage (maybe a little different than the moms' corsages?)
    - Hand her your bouquet at the reception
    - Write her a small card and give it to her at the rehearsal dinner or the morning of the wedding

  • I think readings are a great way to incorporate people who are important to you. We had three readings (which sounds so formal, really, my uncle [who married us] just turned the floor over for a minute or so to our mums and one of my cousins (who read in Hawaiian) and my brother (who translated).

We are having 2 readings that are excerpts from books we like.

  • We did, we had my 2 cousins do readings for us.  My cousin Matt read a poem that we read at my very close uncle's funeral (it was a love poem he gave my aunt shortly before he died).  My cousin Debbie performed a hand ceremony for us.  Love them both, and I was glad we could include them in our big day.  Plus - it helped draw out the ceremony a little bit too.
