Dinner linens and paper napkins?

We are going to have dinner linens but if people get up to dance or mingle after dinner and misplace them or they are taken away do we also have some paper napkins near the cake to be served with the cake? Maybe a silly question but I didn't really want to order these and not need them.

LOL I have no idea what napkins our cake was served with.  I think the dinner linens since cake was served with the dessert course at the end of dinner, before dancing really started.

I recommend asking your caterer what they recommend.  Some caterers will provide plain white bar napkins for things like cake -- that may be good enough.  We ordered personalized napkins in our wedding color and they were used for apps and cocktails.  I don't even remember if we had any left over...should check the big box upstairs

We served cake after our post-dinner entertainment and before speeches.  I think ppl just stuck with their dinner linen napkins (we didn't distribute extra napkins) and that was fine.  

If you're thinking about ordering personalized napkins, those are usually used for apps and cocktails, as Tanq said.  We had some napkins with the words "eat, drink, be married" on them, as well as coasters that said something else (can't remember what).  It was cute and a nice personal touch.  Make sure to hand such items over to your coordinator beforehand (if you have one) and the servers usually take care of distributing them to guests along with food/drinks (i.e. if you just put them on the table, they might not get used).   HTH!

I dont think I will really remember either but I keep seeing the ad and I thought and I supposed to order those for the cake or apps?  It makes sense to have them with the cocktails while the guests are waiting for us.  I will ask our WC and see what she thinks.

I'll be ordering some for the drinks and cocktail hour as well for our welcome dinner.  Doesn't hurt to have extra. HTH! J. :-)
