The female equivalent of an usher?

Hi I'm hoping all of you can help me....I am looking to find a title for someone who is involved in all of your wedding party activities (i.e. names in the program, walks down the isle with the ushers, in the limo bus after the ceremony etc).  Basically a female usher, they are part of the wedding but are not bridesmaids.  I would love to have them as bridesmaids, but I have 4 sisters who are going to be my bridesmaids.

    Are you thinking of attendants?

And btw, please don't give your other friends menial tasks like watching over the guest book.

If you really want to have them as BM's, include them. It is perfectly okay to have an uneven WP.

Are they walked arm in arm with the ushers down the aisle before you walk down?  What is separating them from being bridesmaids?  Are they wearing bridesmaid dresses or just anything they want?  Is there a reason you don't just increase your number of bridesmaids?  Sorry for all the questions :)  I just want to make sure I understand.

No worries on all the questions, I like questions!

Yes they would be walking with the ushers and seated in the front, same manner as the usher just on my side of the isle.

They will not be wearing bridesmaid dresses, they will be wearing something they already own, I would probably ask they choose a black dress to semi-coordinate with the ushers.

I am not really looking to increase the number of my bridesmaids cause right now it is sisters and family on my side.

The more I think about it, I think I may just make them female ushers!

They seem to have no real function, therefore, it seems like they are just guests at your wedding and don't need to be walked down the aisle.
    I'm confused!

Is there any way you could give them more of a role in the wedding? Maybe they could do a reading or something?

Two of our close female friends are doing readings in our ceremony and also passing out programs for us. They are attending the rehearsal dinner and we're getting them gifts. They aren't bridesmiads, but we wanted them to be part of the ceremony and also wanted to thank them by having them at the dinner and giving them each a small gift of appreciation.
