Vows and what is REQUIRED exactly...

I was just reading a thread on another board when I came across the question of what is legally required as far as the vows and ceremony goes. I was wondering if there are any married ladies who know what is required in Alabama. Some ladies said in their states it is required that the officiant specify that the marriage is a life-long contract and if you write your own vow (or not) what ever you promise you FI is considered a legally binding contract. Does anyone know or know a good resource for this?

You could ask your county's probate/marriage license office; they would most likely know the legalities of how the ceremony needs to be worded. I've done a little research on my own and haven't run into anything like that, though.

    Here's a helpful site:

I'm with hckaczyn... I've never heard anything about certain vows being required, I know my officiant has never mentioned it... It may vary from county to county so def. check with your local probate office or officiant! Make sure to let us know the outcome!
