***Jenn*** and ***Dewdrop***

Hi girls! I am a newbie here, and I was told that you gals did a beach ceremony/reception. I would love some help from you 2. Fiance and I are planning for about 70 people and we want to do a beach wedding. I was thinking of a beach house, but have no idea how to progress from this point. Could you girls point me in any direction? Do you have any recommendations for vendors? Thanks!

Hey!I had a beach wedding last summer in Rehoboth.  At first, we wanted to have our wedding at the Indian River Lifesaving station but it was way out of our budget.  Then, we looked at renting a beach house thinking it would be more budget friendly- unfortunately we were very wrong!  Houses that are large enough to hold that many people were very pricey to rent for the week and in addtion, the catering costs, rentals for the tent, etc came to be more expensive than having it somewhere in a hotel or something. We went with Salero- www.saleroonthebeach.com. For us it was great because there was no rental fee and the price pp was VERY reasonable.  We didnt have to rent tables, chairs, dance floor, tent, etc that we would have had to do with the house. If you find that doesn't suit your needs, there are several similarly priced places in Ruddertowne.  We looked at the Addy Sea B&B in Bethany- which was beautiful, but not large enough for our party.  It might work for yours though!  I thought the prices there were great and you could rent the entire house out.  Try googling for other B&Bs in the area- i'm sure they offer similar deals. If you still really want the house, try this website- http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/delaware/rehoboth-beachIt's people who rent their homes privately.  You might be able to get a cheaper rate if you are getting married off-season but make sure you let them know it is for a reception- I might be wrong, but I think there was a permit you had to obtain (or that your caterer had to obtain) to host a large party.  And you'll need a permit from the city if you want to get married on the beach ($50).Hope that helps!  Let me know if you need anything else!  There are some great houses on that vrbo site, but when you are estimating cost, make sure you get estimates of things you'll need to rent in addtion and make sure you are getting the best deal for your money!

Thanks! I looked at the reception place you had yours, and it is a little on the pricey side for us. We are trying to keep everything under $5k... I am sure I will have plenty of questions :)

How about doing a wedding on the beach and then doing the reception in a firehall?  Roxana is really nice and close to Bethany.  Also- check out the Ocean View VFW.  Its such a beautiful location.  We looked into having our RD there, but it fell on the same night as "Fried chicken night" and they werent willing to close the club to the regulars.  I think they were willing to do it for weddings though!  Bridgeville had a nice firehall too, but it is about a 25 min drive from the beach
