The contract is in to the DJ!!  Now all that's left to book is a limo and hair/makeup   To all the ladies with the "get it done early" attitude, I can't say how right you are!

That's awesome!  Great check!  Who did you end up booking, if I can ask, and how much was he (I need 4 or 5 hours, we haven't decided if we want him to play the cocktail hour or not).

Ugh.  I'm so dreading finding a DJ so I've been putting it off.  I need to get on that...

Penguin, I am sooooo with you on this one!  I think it is the one vendor I am dreading the most, because reviews of DJs are so subjective.While one person may love their DJ, if all they wanted played were top 40 and that's all he's known for playing, then she is going to love him and rave about him.  On the other hand, that DJ won't suit the needs of a bride who wants more older, classic songs.  But the second bride has no way of knowing if he is what she wants or not when asking for recommendations, since Bride 1 is going to rave about him because he fit her needs.  I hope all of that made sense!I just am dreading, dreading, dreading.  I thought we had one that some girls on here said did a decent job, but more recently, I have heard some not so good things about them, so I am back at square one

Brit, we went with Tom Barrett.  He's $695 for 4 hours and I think overtime is $80/hr but I'd have to double check it.  FI and I are very impressed with how professional the company is.

I had just heard from some girls that they weren't happy/pleased with him, and that others had been to weddings or knew people who used him who weren't pleased with him.  Things like he didn't stay on track, didn't follow their instructions, etc.

Oh boy...well, I guess we'll see.  I've heard really good things about him and I have a good feeling, so I will keep my fingers crossed and let you know!

Overall, all the good things I have heard definitely outweigh the bad, and we will most likely end up booking him as well- I just got cold feet there for a second!

I know exactly what you mean.  I've second guessed myself a lot with the different vendors we've booked, all because "it's so early, what if something better comes along?" keeps running through my head.  But in reality, I know that getting things done early is the way to go.  He said that already he was 1/3 booked for May15, but I didn't feel pressured at all to get the contract in and he was very helpful with my questions and was very reassuring.  He said that they aren't the kind of DJ company that will be cheezy and in the way.  I told him we want to have a classy reception and that was the vibe I got from him.  I've been very impressed with the company and the awards they've won/received and the feedback from other brides has really helped too.  When he mailed you the reserve the date form, did he include the articles from magazines/responses from other brides?  Obviously the good ones would be included, but it gave me confidence in him to read through it all.  GL!
