DIY help (adhesive)

So, I found the perfect invites.  Even FI loves them.  The only thing that concerns me is that I have to adhere the actual paper piece of the invitation to the pocket part.  I'm wondering what I should use to attach them since glue tends to make paper crinkly.  Anyone have any suggestions?  TIA!

Head to the scrapbooking section at AC Moore/Michael's.There are the glue strips (version of glue dots, but in strip form). There are glue rollers, where you roll the tape holder along the paper, and it places the strip of adhesive along the paper.  My personal favorite is the Xyron type; it's a little handheld one, but it is wonderfully tight, and so easy to use (esp for a leftie, when some of the others get all messed up with the plastic that the adhesive is on!)Finally, there is the Xyron machine, which turns whatever you want into a sticker.  The one you would need, though, for an invitation size is very expensive. There are several ways to do it- I suggest just going over there and perusing. Finally, can I ask where you found the invite you want?  If it is one that is not DIY, I highly suggest you head to someplace like Apropos (in Greenville), where you can show them what you like and tell them why you don't like it, and they will help you find something that looks visually like what you want, but maybe you won't have to glue it down, etc.  They really work with you- several girls have used them and were very pleased. If it is DIY, IMO, I would highly suggest not doing your own.  There are a ton on the Philly board who DIY with invites, and they hated it.  They said while it was nice to have that personal touch, it just wasn't worth the extra time, energy, and expense (DIY invites are way more expensive).  They all said that if they did it again, they would either buy readymade or have someone else do them.If you do want DIY, check out Etsy.  I know Steph (Tonysgurl) got hers on there, and she said that when she priced everything out for pocketfolds, Etsy was so much cheaper than if she did them herself, and she didn't have to put the time and energy into them.  She got to design, someone else did all the work.  She's on her HM right now, but when she is back, I would ask her about it (if you are set on DIY).Hope all that helps; really think about it before you DIY.  As one of the girls on the Philly board said, it's alot of work for something someone is going to throw away.

They are barely DIY, I only have to adhere the paper to the pocket and tie a ribbon through it.  This is them, if you want to check it out: http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/Stylish_Wrap_Wedding_Invitations_with_Black_Pocket_and_Ballet_Pink_Accents_3.html~idProduct~7091~idCategory~0~seq~0~totRecs~0, sorry, I don't now how to make the link clickable :/  But thank you for the idea, I'm definetly going to check out what ACMoore has to offer.  You MUST be a scrapbooker!

I love glue dots.  i had to attach my vellum invitation to the inside of the outer invitation and used the glue dots.  turned out great and didn't wrinkle at all.  i used 4 per invite, one in each corner.  there might be a photo of one in my bio.

Those are nice!  I just wanted to make sure you weren't getting in too deep with DIY- like I said, it can end up being way more than you bargained for.Yes, I lovelovelove scrapbooking.  I have done several- one for my sister for her high school years (with everything from sports to trips to prom) as her HS graduation present, one for my friend when she went away for grad school to have with her, one for my ringbearer's mom when he had an article done about him and Autism in the paper (she bawled her eyes out when she opened it- I included letters from all the girls that have worked with him over the years, and she just thought it was wonderful), and one for me for my senior year in HS with newspaper articles and such.Brian loves my scrapbooks, and I would totally love to do one for him for a wedding present, but I don't know if that will work- hopefully, with us moving soon and having a bit more space, we can set up a table for me to do crafts on, and that will be one of them.  I also want to scrapbook everything from his Eagle Scout Project (right now it's all just thrown in a binder).  I also plan on doing one for FBIL for his Eagle Scout project (it will be his gift).  I plan on sending the announcement to all the governors, mickey and minnie, etc, so they send a congratulatory letter that I can put in the book.  Plus all the stuff from the actual project- it's going to look really neat.So yes, in a nutshell, I LOVE to scrapbook!

FYI on those tape rollers, they jammed up a lot when we were helping steph with her menus.

Jackie is right, that is why I recommended a certain brand- the Xyron ones are the only ones I have come across that do not jam up.
