NWR: Back from the doctors...

And it's good news and bad news. The bad news is that my pain doctor, who I love so much, is just not able to do anything else for me- it's a moment I have been dreading for a while. The good news is, though, that she is referring me to Dr. Schwartzmann at Drexel- the leading top doc in the field of RSD/CRPS.  He is the one who pioneered the ketamine treatments- anyone who does these treatments have been trained by him.  He has been in this field for 30 years, and is considered the 'guru', as my doctor put it.  Hopefully, I am able to get in to see him soon, and with his opinion, the court will accept it, seeing as how he is the most respected in his area.  That's the hope anyway... I am also hopeful about the ketamine infusions.  Getting a referral to him is not easy by any means, and means that I really am at the last treatment phase.  But having researched and talked to others who have had this treatment, I am really praying that this is what can help me.Anyway, I just thought I would give you all an update.  It may take a while to hear more, but when I do, you all will be in the know.  Thanks for being such awesome, caring ladies!  If any of you have any questions about all this, feel free to ask- I am not shy about answering questions about what's going on in my life with all this.  Who knows who it could help?

I guess that is good news that you get to see the specialist of all specialists in this field.  Hopefully he can find a treatment that works for you.PS - I think you write well, and don't mind the paragraphs long postings :)  (from Philly board earlier today)

LOL, thanks Hilary.  My opinion on it is that I would rather be thurough and make sure there is no room for misinterpretation than do a short, sarcastic comment.  Plus I like to talk (as many of the girls on here know :):)!), LOL!  Anyway, I am not letting anything get me down today- so the Philly girls can keep their bad attitudes.  I have been trying to get this referral for a long time, and for me, it's the opening of a door that has the very real chance of taking my pain away (with no side effects on things like pregnancy, etc).  I am happy about this, and am going to be all day! Thanks for the prayers, Lauren.  I know it sounds silly, but I really do 'feel' them- knowing I am in people's thoughts and prayers, knowing there are prayer chains at churches (mine, my grandma's, and my FILs, plus a couple of friends) that are constantly offering up for me- it's very inspiring, comforting.  I like to think of it (as weird as this may seem) as a warm bed comforter right out of the dryer being wrapped around me everytime someone prays for me.  It's one of the reasons I am so big on prayer myself- whether you believe in God or not, the fact that someone is taking time to think of you is a blessing in my mind!  So thank you!
