Excuse me while I rant for a minute. I went to the Aveda Institute today for a haircut and color. I've had services done there before and I'm fine with the fact that the stylists are students and still learning; this stylist had completed just under half of her program so I was feeling ok with that. Her instructor (who I loved) recommended she basically color my hair twice; once to deposit the color we chose which matched my roots (my roots come in more of an auburn/light reddish brown than the strawberry-blonde length), then again with the same color to make it solid. So I knew I would be there for a while which was fine, figured it'd maybe be 3-3.5 hours instead of the 2.5 I was expecting.
Five hours later, my stomach is growling and scalp is aching from being pulled; this particular stylist apparently doesn't understand the importance of detangler or how to use widetooth combs and was reprimanded by two instructors for not using either. Worse, the color comes out two shades darker than anticipated. Stylist told me after she'd done the second color application that she thought it would be good to make it a little darker (I loved how it looked after the first application). My color turned out a rich medium-dark brown with red undertones, not quite the "light brown/auburn" we discussed.
I don't hate the color but I'm not totally satisfied and FI and I have our engagement pics next Wednesday. I'm hoping it will fade a bit by then. FI has been helping a friend in Cincinnati all day so he won't see it till later tonight and I think he's not going to like it either. Not my favorite way to start the weekend.

Ok, finishing rant... Good news - we sent our deposit for our reception venue today!
