Hi All!

I'm new to the board and wanted to introduce myself.

I got engaged on Christmas Day this year.  :)  Due to a limiting work schedule and "demanding" kayaking habit, not to mention my eagerness to get married this year (I'm 36 and want to be married for a bit before starting a family), the best date for me is 9/10/11.  Apparently, this is a pretty sought out date, and it's making me nervous.

Since we're both outdoorsy types, do you have any advice on receptions sites in/near DE with a rustic feel, or near the water?  My first choices, Kings Mills and Rockwood, are already taken.  :(

Thanks everyone for any advice you have... I'm sure I will have a TON more questions!!!!

maybe try Bellevue! it's close to rockwood & there's lakes & woods so it should be really nice.

Welcome and congratulations!!!  I'm getting married the weekend after you, on Sept. 17th.

There are so many venues along the water in MD.  Are you committed to DE or would MD also work?  There is the Wellwood Yacht Club, the Chesapeake Inn, and North East Yacht Club are just a few in Cecil County.

    Good luck!  Keep us posted!

I'm not trying to be negative, but I think you're going to have a really hard time finding a venue for that date because so many brides are all ZOMG 9/10/11 is SO AWESOME!!!11!!

Have you considered doing a Friday night or Sunday afternoon wedding?  It might open your options a bit.

Thanks for the ideas!  Mrs. TR, I think you are right... everything seems to be booked.  :(  Unfortunately, that date was just coincidence for me.  I think I'm going to see if I can switch the church to Labor Day weekend.  Some options open up then.

Thanks for the welcome, ladies!  :)

I am Labor day weekend...won't recommend it because everything is really booked too.

It really depends on your budget and what your vision is.  Mansion at Ridley Creek is in the middle of Ridley Creek State Park and is gorgeous.  DE State Parks offer a few options.  So does Fair Hill, MD.  I cannot remember what their facility is called but it is through MD's DNREC.  Sounds silly but you might even want to look into Lum's Pond.  For rustic, I am not sure but there is the Farmhouse and Stone Barn (?) that you might like.  I can't recall anything with a mountain cabin-type feel.

    Congrats!

Deerfield Golf Club... and they're offering 30% off if you book prior to Feb 5th.  Heard it on the radios.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.
