Has anyone attended a wedding at the Christiana Hilton? Comments on the locationand service please!

Yes, I am a lurker and have finally decided to ask a question as you ladies appear to be very helpful.  FI and I are having our ceremony and reception at the Christiana Hilton.  The price we have is very reasonable and it includes everything (including a suite the night of our wedding, an ice sculpture, and five hour open bar)...I am just wondering if anyone has attended a wedding &/or reception there as am not from DE (FI lives there).
Thanks!Smile

Hi there :-)  I had my wedding and reception at the Christiana Hilton this past July, and everything was FABULOUS!  We had our ceremony outside in the courtyard, and our reception was in le Chameleon room, which is the smaller ballroom with the windows by the pond.  Everything was perfect!  I have a detailed review in my married bio, but with this stupid new knot, it appears to have erased my link so I'll have to find it again.  Leah, the coordinator there, was so awesome to work with.  On the day of, Alfredo, our maitre'D for the night, was just awesome and on top of everything.  He never let me be without a drink in my hand :-)  He was so attentive and made sure my bridal party had everything we needed at all times.  Actually, about an hour before the ceremony, he came upstairs to the suite where we were getting ready and brought us a free bottle of champagne.  I could not have had a more amazing, perfect day, and a large part of that was because I chose the Hilton.  If you're on Facebook, I have tons of pictures, so you can friend me, donnalynn279 at comcast dot net . Also, a few of the girls on this board were at the wedding and should also be able to give you some reviews from a guest's perspective.

Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help!  You made a great choice!!!

I went to Donna's wedding, and everything was fabulous.  The food & service were great.  They put on a very nice show - my sister has booked her wedding there for May 2010, and she said the same thing Donna has, that Leah is great to work with.

I too went to Donna's wedding.  It was FABULOUS!!!  Everything was beautiful, the ice sculpture shaped like a butterfly, to the drinks-um Red Death anyone?, to the food, to the service.  And the room was so beautiful!

Thank you!!!  Donnalynn, I have not joined FB as of yet but, I am getting there; I will friend you when that happens.  We too would like to have our ceremony in the gazebo and booked the DE room for our reception and 1/3 of it for the ceremony.

Two questions: 1- Were you charged to reserve the gazebo for your ceremony?

2- Which florist and bakery did you select and how were they overall?

I know Im not Donna, but she doesnt come on too often...  I know some of the answers to your questions -

1 - My sister was charged to use the gazebo.  I want to say $750, but Im not 100% sure.

    2. - Donna used Judy for flowers (Creations for Celebrations or something like that) and her flowers were beautiful.  I tried to book her after meeting Judy at a bridal show, and couldnt get a hold of her after almost 6 weeks of emails and phone calls.  It seems like if you can book with her, your flowers are amazing and great prices, but shes very difficult to get ahold of initially.
She used Sweets to you by Ginger for the cake - and OMG sooo yummy.

Again, sorry I answered for Donna - but I was just trying to help :)

What's up with that, Steph?  You think I can't answer my own posts?  :-P

Anyway, yes, we were charged to book the gazebo.  It was $1000 to reserve it for a Saturday night.

Judy from Creations for Celebrations was great to work with, and the flowers were gorgeous and amazingly affordable prices.  It is true she can be hard to get a hold of, but the end result is worth it :-)  She may not call back in a timely fashion, but she ALWAYS comes through on the wedding day.

Sweets to you by Ginger is amazing.  The cake was gorgeous, picture perfect, EXACTLY what I wanted.  All I had to pay was a small upgrade of $60 to have white chocolate draping added to the cake.  But we got to choose 4 different flavors, and the 1 bite I had was delicious...unfortunately I didn't get to try the rest of it!

It's true that I'm not here on the boards as much as I used to be, so if you have any more questions or want to chat, feel free to e-mail me at donnalynn279 at comcast dot net :-)

LOL!  Thank you so much for the info ladies!  FI and I were thinking of using the vendors you listed.  Sweets to you by Ginger was at the wedding giveaway (how we ended up booking) and the cake was fab!  So happy to hear good things about the planning process and am honestly thrilled by the willingness to assist me offered by you ladies!  We have ten months and I will most likely seek help again!
