St Marys Brides

Hello all,

Just a quick question, currently we have had meetings with my family's church but they are very strict about everything and there is so many added things that we have to do that my friend said they did not have to do.

So we are looking to switch, i was wondering if someone could tell me the process of getting married at St. Marys Church. like any classes and meetings. thanks,

I think your best bet would be to call them and ask the process and requirements. Or you could check online and see if they have their info there.

I just got married at St. Mary's in June.  They were great!  We were not members but they made it feel like they had known us for years.  We attended an informational session which took about an hour.  They went over the process, fees, etc. during this session and we even got to set our date right there.  They require that you attend either the weekend retreat for 1 day pre cana class.  Other requirements and meetings were the FOCCUS, 2 meetings with the Deacon (1 to review FOCCUS results and 1 just before the wedding to plan the ceremony), and a meeting with the music person to understand those requirements.  Send me a PM if you have any specific requirement info.

    Good luck!

my process has been very close to csh's. we have just had our intro meeting. we are members though. i love the church. beautiful--great community. it's wonderful. keep in mind that there are lots of churches in the downtown area. if you are interested in more info, let me know. we did a major church search before settling on st. mary's as our home parish.

A word of warning to St. Mary's brides: My neighbor and her now-husband were supposed to get married at St. Mary's the first weekend in June, but the church double-booked the church for the same time and our neighbors weren't notified until later into planning - they reserved it at least 8 months in advance, well before the other couple booked it for the same date/time. They were members of the church for a couple of years already and the other couple weren't members as long (if at all), and she was told to contact the other bride to see if they would change their time/date. No bride in that situation would say yes anyways, so our neighbors were offered to use sister parish St. Leo's (also in German Village) for that date and because St. Leo's isn't used as regularly as St. Mary's for mass, they were able to have the same priest and have the ceremony closer to the reception time. It worked out in the end and the St. Leo's was just as beautiful, but it's unfortunate that happened. So as a warning, make sure everything is in writing with the date you reserved it for and the date you booked the church.
