Reception Venues

Hi! I'm new to this knot posting thing but I am in need of help. It seems that many people here are from the Philly area, but I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a reception site for about 150 people in Southern Delaware. The ceremony is going to be on the beach but I am struggling with finding that perfect reception venue. Any ideas? Thanks!

I also heard that the Rusty Rudder does wedding receptions.

I would say the first thing is that you need to have an idea of what you want to spend. A lot of the places down at the beach are pricier. I had a friend who was married last month at Solero and her reception was beautiful, the Indian River Lifesaving Station is really pretty too but they have a lot of restrictions, you have to bring in your own caterers and kinda pricey for everything you have to bring in, The Rudder...it's more of a party scene there and not very good for a wedding, Baywood Greens is beautiful and not too expensive depending on your budget. Nassau Valley Winery is really pretty too and I have heard the food is great and the price isn't too bad. There is also the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club..a little bit more expensive but the food is good and if you decide to, you can get married on the bay, its more private then the beach. I know that the beaches around here are never private and you'll always have strangers in the background although the time of year decides how crowded the beaches are. Hope that helps!

I too am planning a beach wedding (Rehoboth) actually.  We looked into several of the places people have listed above.  We are on a smaller budget but still decent.  We looked at several of the venues people listed above also but the fees were to great for us or they just weren't what we were looking for.  Our reception is going to be held at The Cordrey Center in Millsboro.  It is a new location and may not appeal to all, but the building is beautiful and it fit for our style.  The max they can hold however is 150 people.  We are planning for 125 so it will be perfect.  They just recently started with in house catering also.

    Hope this helps.

If you are willing to go into MD, look into the Fountains in Salisbury, MD.  GORGEOUS.  We just went to a wedding there, and it was absolutely breathtaking.  Highly recommend you check it out!

I'm getting married in Southern DE in June of 2011. Our ceremony & reception are in the same place, but if you are having a Rehoboth ceremony, the place where I'm having mine is about 1/2 an hour away... Heritage Shores Golf Club. The ballroom is huge (fits 300 i do believe) I'm having around 160 people and there is plenty of room (and room enough for our photobooth!) The place itself has excellent picture opportunities and the food cost is very reasonable.

    Website is: www.heritageshoresgolf.com
They are actually having a bridal show in about a month on October 17th. I would go there to check it out if you're interested! :)

Thank you guys for all of the wonderful ideas! We have been doing so much research, I feel like I have visited every site in Sussex County haha! We decided on having the ceremony at Lewes Beach and then the reception at Nassau Vineyards. It is just our style and I was concerned about budgeting in all of the rentals but ya know what, I just know it's all gonna work out. And yes, you do need to go to an outside vendor for catering with the Vineyards, they do not provide food or tables and chairs, just the building.

And, chemistry2000, The Cordrey Center is wonderful! I love the look of the building. That would have been our next choice but we have most of our guest list coming from out of town and it would have been difficult since it is no where near a hotel. Great place at a great price though! Have fun!

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much Baywood Greens is to rent? I really love that place but couldn't find prices on the website. Thanks!
