FYI- Blue Ball Barn and Bellevue

, aThe State Park webpage is advertising "Celebrate and save 25%" on Blue Ball Barn, Bellevue Hall, and Cauffiel House (click the venue name for the website of each).

It says to call 302-761-6952 for more details.  That's all the little box said (if you click a link above, and look on the lefthand side, the little square advertisement is right there).  They also have an info request page that you can contact them by, and you may be able to do it through here, making sure to mention the ad and ask for more info.  They also have an email (click the word email for the link) that you can contact them through, again mentioning the ad on the website.

Details (for those who haven't heard of these):
If you are looking for a really unique venue, Blue Bell Barn is definitely one you will want to check out.  Just the pictures alone on the website make me wish we had discovered and looked into it a bit more before going with our venue.  It's just so different and neat looking!  Especially for those who may want a museum reception (with minimal personal decoration needed since it's already got intriguing displays), but can't afford the cost of the Delaware Art Museum, this may be the perfect route to go.  Also, for those who are into Environmentally Friendly trends or are trying to have a "green" wedding, this space is certified Green friendly!

If you are looking for that "mansion" feel, Bellevue is one you will want to check out.  While there are some drawbacks- I have heard in recent past that the house needs repairs and basic fixup, and you don't have one large ballroom to put all your guests in, you split them up among the rooms downstairs- if you are having a smaller wedding, this may be the way to go.  Apparently, there are both a bridal and groom suite upstairs, though I have never seen pictures or heard from anyone what they look like.

Caffiel house is the place that I would recommend you rent to get ready at and to spend the pre-wedding night and the wedding night at; it has 3 rooms and can sleep a total of 6 people.  While you can get ready at Bellevue in the Bridal Suite, the Caffiel House (located on the same property as Bellevue, and right down the road from the Barn) allows you to store items without you having to lug them out when the reception is over.  The interior is completely furnished with period pieces, and can have indoor events of up to 50 people- perfect for a Bridal Shower or Rehearsal Dinner :)  It's so romantic inside!

And while you have do most yourself (ie, it's not an all-inclusive; you rent just the space from the state, and rent everything else- tables, china, etc- from someone else), with this discount, it may be worth it.  Just a note, you do have to use certain vendors (tent rentals and caterers) off their approved vendor list.  The list they have, though, is pretty decent with plenty of options and a good range of prices.

Hope this helps someone out; if you know of someone looking (and not just for a wedding, but a celebration of any type), let them know.  This is a great deal!

Just checked it out... you can save 25% if you're having an event in Dec 2010-March 2011.

Does anyone have any other info on the Bellevue Mansion?  We were hoping to have our cocktail hour inside, and have the reception outside under a tent.  Any other info would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Has anyone had a wedding or been to a wedding at the Blue Ball Barn?  I'm going to look at it tomorrow.
