Signature Drink

Is anyone doing a signature drink? If so, what is it and what are you calling it? I've heard of the "Something Blue" and the *insert last name here*-tini but anyone doing something different they might want to share with me?

I'll be honest with you... I started planning my wedding and had all these big ideas for personalizing it (napkins, monograms, sig drinks, etc). When I really got into contacting vendors and dealing with family and finances, all this stuff went out the window. I just couldn't be bothered with the small stuff. I'm a very detail oriented person, and think that the little things matter, but I started realizing that all these little personal things add up financially and were taking a lot of my time to figure out.

I'm not telling you not to do a signature drink. I'm just saying that you should *think* about all of this stuff, and down the road when your neck-deep in planning, maybe scratch a few off your list.

I'm also a grey goose martini drinker, and wanted a martini signature drink... until I realized how dangerous it would be to have non-martini drinkers have one and get drunk too fast! People will find it cute to have the signature drink, and if you go with something strong, some people may not pace themselves. Or, maybe I'm just paranoid :)

I booked an RH that includes Dj, photographer, flowers(cp's and boks), wedding cake, limos and invitations. So, I find it necessary to personlize my wedding as much as possible just bc I'm bored and so far I have nothing to do with it. It cost me a total of $9 to have 4 monograms made and a total of $85 to have 200 napkins, 50 stir-sticks, and 100 matches made with my monogram printed on them. I don't think thats too outrageous. And trust me I got a 6 month old son at home and I work f/t so my time is precious but I know what I am capable of. I wasnt even gonna do menus and table numbers like alot of brides do until I figured out a way to combine both ideas and I priced it out for only $30( $15 if I only use one per table). My ideas may seem big but I know they're not especially in comparison to alot of other brides out there!

Btw...My reception is in a masonic hall, no picturesque landscaping or pretty decor anywhere so I'd like to WOW my guests in some sorta way.Laughing

Look at a bartending website. Alot of those will let you insert some of the ingredients that you want to incorporate and then name it whatever fits the both you. Are you monogramming or putting any thing on the soles of your shoes? I like the idea of a bath basket of toilettries with a monogram or note on the front from both of you for a personal touch. It seems very easy. Wonder how hard it is to monogram glass candy dishes for the favor area.

You're so smart and lucky to have all those things covered in your package. I take back what I said about having time for it all.

What are your wedding colors? You could always take a regular drink and give it a cute name for your reception. I'm using blue for the reception and was having a really hard time finding a blue drink. I'm not a huge fan of blue curacao.

No monogramming my shoes or candy dishes for me. Now thats a bit much...don't you think? Although I've seen the shoes and its cute for pics but thats one of those things thats def not necessary. When I said "personalize as much as possible" I should have mentioned within my means. Whatever I do has to have meaning to me. I am on a tight budget and only have so much room to splurge. I really like the idea of a bathroom basket...now thats something I wouldnt mind doing.

When I post all my ideas on here I am just trying to keep the board moving for the most part. Like I said I feel a little disconnected from the whole planning process just bc all those things are covered in the package and in result I end up with alot of time to brainstorm and come up with lil extras that could work within my budget. Like the signature drink shouldnt cost me a thing so thats why I'd like to come up with one.

My colors are purple, red and orange. Main color being purple and I too am having a hard time coming up with a purple drink...one thats fairly simple to make that is.
I think I may do the Purple Haze which is vodka, cranberry and rasberry liguor. FH and I will have to do a little sampling one night bc this is a drink we've never had.
As for you...if you do decide to do the sig drink you might want to consider The Something Blue. Heres a recipe I came up with, copy and pasted...

According to the Victorian saying, "Something old, Something new, Something Borrowed, Something Blue..." every bride should include blue in their wedding day for good luck. You can't get much bluer than this cocktail, although it's something you won't be wearing there just might be some luck in it. The Something Blue is a delicate blue drink that's easy enough to make that it can be served at a reception, shower or rehearsal dinner and it's eye appeal is a perfectly elegant touch to any wedding.

Ingredients:

2 oz Hpnotiq

2 oz white wine

1 oz ginger ale
