Officiant Drama!

Well I just found out my officiant can't officiate!  And not only did they not bother to call and tell us, my fiance had to call him to confirm the date and the officiant just happened to say it slipped his mind and he can't come!  Granted the wedding isn't until June 28th, 2010 (not a june 26er anymore...) but I'm a little annoyed.    Especially now becuase we'll have to pay for someone.  (The original officiant is my fiance's uncle!).So ladies, any suggestions for a non-denominational officiant that won't cost me an arm and a leg?  Where do you even look for someone?

PS.  So he's already confirmed he can't make the wedding, do I send him an invite anyway, he is my FI's uncle, but is that just a waste of an invite?

Your FI's uncle was going to officiate and it "slipped his mind" that he couldn't do it? That's weird... are they close? If you are open to it (i.e. willing to have a more non-traditional, less religious - although it depends on who you end up asking)  what we are doing is having his best friend officiate at our wedding which is super easy, totally cheap and full of meaning.

You might also call Brad Rowen with DJ One One.  He's a great DJ and a great officiant.387-DJ11www.djoneone.comSorry to hear of your troubles.

Yeah, I really don't know what his deal was but I actually think it's going to work out better anyway.  I don't know what I'm going to do exactly but thanks for your suggestions girls.  I've sent a few emails and I'll be making some calls.  I have thought about having a close friend or family member do it but I'd really lik eto have someone whose done it before and knows what they're doing etc.  Anyway I'll keep ya posted...PS. What do you think about the invite situation I posted about under my original post?

I would still send him and invite as a courtesy.  If you don't send him and invite he could take it the wrong way, and you don't want that.  Besides, if you send an invite you might get a gift.  d;-)

I don't think I'd send him an invite I might say something like you where invited but since you cant come we didn't send you one. my sister just went on line and got ordained and it was free and she can do weddings so just have someone you both like do that it they can make it there wedding gift (that way its free for you) and its still special
