I got married at the end of August... it was an amazing day and I always found vendor reviews helpful, so I wanted to share mine! Wedding Planner- Marcia Tauriella, Perfect Day Planning A+++++++ Marcia was by far the best vendor we hired. We were so happy with her and she went above and beyond what we could have expected from a wedding planner. She had great vendor recommendations, saved us a ton of money with contract negotiations and handled problems the day of the wedding without me knowing a thing. She even hopped behind the bar for a little while when the bartenders were overwhelmed! She got my venue to do a custom menu for us, got the hotel to drop room rates and include parking when they offered a last minute deal for the wedding weekend, got the hotel to pay for taxi fare when their shuttles couldn't get my guests to the wedding, set up and cleaned up the reception all so that I could relax and have the best day of my life! She is wonderful and affordable- and did it all while having her first baby! Ceremony- St. John's A I love this church- it was the reason I got married in Omaha. They are very strict about timing and very hard to get a date- but they are good at what they do and it was well worth it. There was an issue with my marriage license being lost after the ceremony, but I think that was the county clerk's fault and not the church's. Reception and Catering- Harper Center, Creighton University B This is a new venue and we loved that it was so close to the ceremony site for the quick timing for our Friday night wedding. They are definitely still getting used to doing wedding receptions and things were a little rough at times. They struggle with communication among the staff- I think we had 3 different contacts there and no one had the same story. We didn't have a signed contract until 2 days before the wedding, which was quite stressful. The night of the wedding our bar was messed up (they only had liquor and Fat Tire- no wine or other beer)- but they corrected it quickly and gave us a generous discount on the tab at the end of the night because of it. They did do a custom menu for us and did family style dinner that they had never done before- but it turned out great. Flowers- Frank at Mulhall's C Everyone raves about him and flowers weren't high on my priority list, so I went with Frank. He is definitely the most affordable option that I found, but the only flowers that really turned out the way I wanted them were the bouquets and boutinerres- which I loved. I told him what flowers I liked and they didn't really turn out in any of my centerpieces or large floral sprays- I actually ended up with some that I said I wasn't a huge fan of. I asked him to provide flowers for my cake and provided a picture of what I wanted, but there were no where near enough flowers for the cake. Cake- Jamie at the Cake Specialist (Bellevue) A+ The cake was amazing- and would have been perfect if the flowers were right! She has so many yummy flavors- and she let us taste so many of them. We fell in love with 5 flavors! The cake is moist and tasty- and she doesn't tack on a bunch of extra costs for little things. Our groom's cake was an awesome cut out cake- I was very impressed with her piping skills too. DJ- Mark at Bandstand A+++ He is as good as everyone says he is- the dance floor was packed all night long. Bandstand was great too because I put the wrong DJ name on my contract, and they changed it and got me Mark at the last minute. Ceremony Musicians- Legacy Strings A They were a little slow with communication and never got me the music samples I requested- I actually remember standing with my father, waiting to go down the aisle and saying "well, at least the musicians are good!" because I had never heard them. Great price and great music- I was very happy. Dress- Suburban Bridal A My consultant was very nice and very helpful when I first found my dress- and even when I got a hold of her for questions and follow up stuff. The owner on the other hand was less than stellar- she definitely struggles with customer service. And it did take the full 9 months to get my dress from them. They had a huge selection compared to the other shops I went to. Alterations- Linda Lee A++++ This lady is awesome- very friendly, very detail oriented and very cost effective. My dress had an asymmetrical train and she came up with this amazing over/under color coded genius of a bustle for it- and kept working on it until it was absolutely perfect. I think she took it in 4 times for me as I lost a couple pounds. She made my veil for a 1/4 of the price of what the salon wanted, added crinoline to the dress, and made a pocket square for my husband and a dress patch for me. Bridesmaid's Dresses- White House Black Market A+ Simple and easy to get dresses for my girls in different states and the manager gave all of them a discount. Tuxes- The Tux Shop A++ The tuxes looked great, they all fit right and were ready on time. It was easy for the out of town guys to get them too. They had tie options that no one else had and all the guys looked super classy. We got them during a grand opening special, so they were very affordable too. OK- that is most of them, and this is long enough. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy planning!
