Cake?

FI doesn't eat cake and I'm not that excited about it either. So we are really getting a cake that the guests will love since it isn't a big deal to us. Can you post your inspiration cake pictures and tell me what filling are you using?

We are having our cake tasting and making a decision on a design this Saturday and I really have no clue what I want. Thanks!

    We're doing Bavarian cream filling with red velvet cake.

  • We are having 2 tiers. The bigger one is red velvet and the smaller one is coconut creme.
  • We are doing the top tier red velvet and the bottom two tiers vanilla with tiramisu filling.

  • We are doing an almond vanilla cake with raspberry filling. 4 tiers, hexagon cake. Yum!

  • Ummm...I have no clue what our's will be in terms of flavor, other than one layer will definitely be carrot cake! My friend/BM is our cake maker (she does it for a living), and she makes the best carrot cake!!! I guess I should probably be talking to her about other flavors, but I don't think we're doing anything super fancy. FI isn't a huge cake fan either-he wants a pie LOL So instead of a groom's cake, we may be having pie...

  • I think you should do a dessert you like instead of cake, you can do pie, tiramisu, ice cream, cookies, cheesecake, brownies, a chocolate fountain with fruit and stuff to dip in it. Your guests won't care if there's not a wedding cake. Do what makes you two happy. 

    But to answer your question: We're doing a tier of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and 2 tiers of hazelnut butter cake filled with praline butter, chocolate mousse, and raspberries.

  • Haha i love pp because that's what we are actually doing. Neither of us likes cake all that much so we are doing wedding pie :D We are having a country wedding so it fits. There will be cherry, lemon meringue, blueberry, rhubarb/strawberry and pecan! But since ppl expect 'cake' we're also doing mini cupcakes in 6 different flavours... oreo, boston cream, orange dreamcicle, keylime, vanilla and chocolate.

  • We are doing cupcakes in chocolate-mint, red velvet, and strawberry shortcake.  We are also doing mini cannoli's since FI doesn't like cake and really likes cannoli's.  I think if you don't like cake, don't have it and get a dessert you do like.

    I agree that if you dont like cake dont have it!  Have desserts you do like!  I have no idea what we are doing for cake yet.  Thats something that we will probably start looking at  next month sometime.  :)

  • we're having a 4-tiered round cake.  The top and bottom layers are black forest (chocolate cake with cherry filling, carrot cake & raspberry lemonade!) It will look similar to this except our butterflies are purple & silver...



    But I also agree, that you don't have to have cake!!  i've seen a lot of people lately having pies or a dessert bar instead of cake.

  • We're doing carrot cake, b/c it's FI and my favorite!

    I agree with Meagan, it is nice you are trying to please your guests but I would get a dessert YOU and your FI like and would get excited about.

  • We are only having strawberry shortcake for the guests and almond for our top tier. (we're going to save the top tier) I can't post a picture of my cake because I'm on my phone. :(
  • we're doing a strawberry parfait layer (white cake with fresh strawberries in the mix, and strawberry mousse filling), pudding chiffon (yellow cake with pudding in the mix, bavarian cream filling, and thin layers of rasberry and lemon), and the top tier is chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and thin layers of chocolate ganache
