Wedding Planner?

Does anyone have experience with a wedding planner in the DSM area? We're considering hiring one because I've heard you can actually end up saving money because of their connections and inside knowledge. Our reception will be fairly low-key, no Bridezilla pony tricks, but it would be nice to have an expert getting us to the finish line. Anyone have advice or suggestions on who to use? Did you go the whole nine yards and have them plan everything, or just select things? Was it worth it, or would you go it alone if you had it to do over? Thanks!!!

Our Florist that we are using is actually a wedding planner and does everything else so it was really lucky that I looked her up for our flowers because shes giving us a discount for our day of wedding coordinating package since we're using her for our flowers as well. She offers other coordinating packages other than just the day of thing, and she has been so helpful and patient putting up with my million and one questions haha. Check her out! HTH!!Cynthia Betts www.specialelegantevents.com

I actually won a planning package with Cynthia (planner posted above). A planner is something I never would have thought about hiring, but now that I have worked with Cynthia my entire planning process I have NO IDEA how I would have done it without her. She has been fantastic and if I had to do it all again, I would def. hire her for full price. We did hire her to do our florals and centerpieces, and we are renting our linens from her, she is like the total package for us. Its nice to have her taking care of som many things, less vendors for me to keep track of and count on the day of!

ziasss....walking a fine line between the knottie/vendor thing.I'm sure you mean well, but not everyone looks so kindly upon what some people would see as soliciting.Just FYI.

The best thing to do if you are looking for a planner is to ask the question and then post your email. Vendors are NOT allowed to post on here at all anymore. If there is a knottie who is a planner, she can get your email address and send you a private message.

Ziasss (and others), I don't feel that she (ziasss) has done anything wrong. As a bride she can response, shoot, I bet she is using her resources as a wedding planner to help herself, there for just like the other in giving suggestions, she gave her own. Don't punish her for doing the same. I understand vendors cannot post, she was just giving a option like others have with Cynthia in previous posts. On a side note, thanks to those who posted their wedding planners, I have been wondering about wedding planners too....thanks.

Actually, she DID do something wrong.  She posted for her own monetary gain.  And that equals vendor. She is more than welcome to come back and post about her wedding, questions she may have about the planning process, etc but she cannot post her personal business info on this site as a way to drive traffic to her.  That's the bottom line :)
