Do I buy postage for the response cards?

Re: RSVP question

  • Yes, they go to the guests stamped with your address on the front so all they have to do is fill it out, stick it in the envelop and mail it back.

  • Etiquette wise and politeness says yes. I am not personally putting stamps on them all, only a few that I KNOW will be mailing them. Grandparents and people that don't have computers. I'm including a card that says they can RSVP via mail, phone, website, or email(all info included). I know its technically rude, but I simply cannot afford all that postage ($300 for invitations and response cards) and most people I know are more comfortable doing things instantly online. I don't think anyone I know, if they want to mail them, will begrudge me a stamp.

  • Thanks!  I thought so but I was just making sure.

  • Thanks Schatzi!  No international guests though for us.

  • I just wanted to jump in and say yes it's very normal to pay for postage and RSVP cards for them but it is in no way because of etiquette. Technically, you could just write 'RSVP by this date' on the invitation and they would respond with their own stationary and postage, or simply a phone call. I know that's not what you were looking for, I just thought I'd share. RSVP cards are because people today are lazy.

And for what it's worth, I'm sending self-addressed RSVP cards with postage.
